Question for you TKD, and Karate people
superfighter replied to Xerziz's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
we do allot of counter grappling and stand up grappling, we also practice kicking techniques to counter a takedown, since a kick is more reliable to stop a takedown than a punch and i should know becasue i have done it before. One kick in the stomach and they were out. -
there was this funny time when 2 little juniors were sparring each other, both yellow belts, Then they just suddenly ran at each other and both nutted each other in he face, it was hilarious Both of the kids cried and i felt mean for laughing, but everyone was laughin cus it looked so funny, even there parents were laughin.

There is always a high chance that Tyson will lose because most of the UFC guys are way more skilled than Tyson when it comes to fighting skills. The biggest problem is when Tyson gets angry, if Tyson snapped in front of me i'd rather leg it out of there than fight. I'd love to see him snap on a UFC guy, they'd crap themselves
-
yeh i was thinking exactly the same thing, if Tyson was to snap inside the UFC cage, then God help the guy in there who's with him. Tyson aint a guy that u wanna get angry, yeh he might throw technique out the window, but so what, who wants a crazy mike Tyson swinging punches left an right? If Tyson was to get grappled on the ground if feel he would know what to do, especially if he was angry, he'd fight like a caged animal to escape. If he does fight in a MMA bout then the guy who fights him has a loada guts, there will be no big padded glove to absorb Tysons punch.

is it true that Mike Tyson is gonna compete in a MMA bout?, if he does what do you reckon the outcome would be?

most realistic

Blade or Blade 2 He uses the most basic of technques and little flash, including knees chokes, arm bars and what not. It shows what will work in a real fight Which is what i like to see -
i hope they do allow punches in Tae Kwon Do, as hopefully people will realise that Tae Kwon Do is not just based on kicking. At the end of the day i accept that Tae Kwon Do is known for its powerful kicking techniques, but it still translates as the Foot hand Way of art. So therefore it still a punching art, and i hope people will get to see just how efficient we are at punching as no doubt this will suprise some people. My instructor stresses punching, if we ever drop our hands he's over us like a ton of bricks. I hope this is enforced in WTF sparring as it will bring some believability to the fights, ie proper guards block ect because seeing them fight with there hands down makes me wanna scream, punching will make it more of a fight which is what i wanna see. i doubt it will happen though, cus people wanna see flash and punching leads to less flash, the fights will be more tactical and slow so its a big decision to make.

Submission fighter has got a good point, Bruce Lee aint the smallest of guys. But compared to most of the UFC fighters he's scrawny, and weight as we know does play a big part in UFC fights. If Bruce Lee was slammed against the cage by a 200 pound guy, i do have allot of doubts on whether he would get out alive. Its not as if he can just shrug him off an ask for more, these guys are big and heavy.
-
this didn't happen to me but it was dam funny, This guy after our Tae Kwon do class walked out without his shoes on, only to come back in about a minute after to get them, lol i think only i noticed, lucky for him. i mean how does someone not realise they aint got there shoes on?

Judo a martial art?
superfighter replied to superfighter's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
lol now come on, Judo is HIGHLY effective on the street moreso than allot of striking arts. I've seen a karate guy against a judo guy at my school at the judo guy kicked his ass. One throw followd by a choke was all it took. You seem to forget that Judo wasn't invented as a sport and most of what happens in judo will work on the street, its techniques are practicle and dangerous. -

i would sweep if i could -
We all know that Bruce Lee was an amazingly fast sticker. Would this have given him an advantage in the UFC? if alive today how long do you reckon he would last against Guys like Tito ortiz and Tank Abbot? Lets not forget that Bruce Lee also studied some ground grappling too, Maybe not the extent of the of the MMArtists today but he knew how to grapple.

i got in to a fight with someone at my school who was a karate bigshot. i kicked him in the gut and winded him around 10 seconds. that was really the only move i could do becasue he was crazy while coming forward and throwing crazy punches. Thats a situation i never want to get in to again ITF Black Belt Tae Kwon DO
