  1. Nice wins for O'Malley. DP, and Maycee Barber. We might see Barber on the main card for her next fight. O'Malley and Merab is the fight that makes sense to me.
  2. It's scheduled for July 20th on Netflix, who is getting into streaming live sports. Any thoughts on the fight? I find it strange that there is a three-decade age gap between the fighters. Has anything close to this ever happened before? I don't follow boxing and have never really watched it, so I have no idea. I don't know much about Jake Paul; I think he emerged three or four years ago through social media and got some fights because of it? I will likely watch this fight and it would be the first Tyson fight I have ever seen live. Edit: I realized I should have made this a poll question after I posted, so I added it now.
  3. In a free agent twist that is stranger than bizarre, presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said that he is considering Jets QB Aaron Rodgers as his VP. Rodgers and Jesse Ventura are "at the top" of Kennedy's short list of candidates. I don't that it that seriously but then again who knows. Lots of other action going on including the Patriots trading first round pick Mac Jones to the Jaguars. Jones is expected to back up first overall pick Trevor Lawrence. Vikings QB Kirk Cousins has signed with the Falcons. This is not a surprise and had been rumored since the regular season ended. Many more moves as well. Every team is signing and/or trading players this week.
  4. Flyers head coach John Tortorella was ejected from the game in Tampa the other night but refused to leave the bench. After a continued back and forth with the official he finally did leave. His lack of cooperation lead to a 50,000 dollar fine and a two-game suspension. Torts was angry about a penalty called on his team and gave the ref and earful leading to the ejection. Ironically, I was just thinking a few weeks ago "what would happen if a coach refused to leave the game after an ejection." Well now we know.
  5. Sounds good. Looks like it is healing correctly. Thanks.
  6. Bizarre ending to the Nashville Minnesota game Sunday. In overtime Minnesota pulled goaltender Marc Andre Fleury and add an extra attacker. It paid off as Minnesota got the goal and got a much-needed win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. However, it is a risky and unusual play. There are only three other times in NHL history that I am aware of where this ever happened, and twice it ended in a empty net goal. This is risky not only because of the empty net, but the rule says that if you pull the goalie in overtime and lose, you are stripped of the point in the standings that you normally get by making it to overtime. It was a gutsy call but the correct one. Minnesota is chasing both Vegas and Nashville in the standings, hoping to get a low playoff seed. One point would not have helped them because they would have fallen a point behind Nashville when they needed to gain one. Very rare situation that worked out well for Minnesota.
  7. Pittsburg appears to be interested in free agent QB Russell Wilson as the two met on Friday. Wilson was cut by the Broncos this week who will have to eat 85 million dollars of his salary. The Russell Wilson trade will be remembered as one of the worst in NFL history. I don't think it will pass the Hershal Walker trade, but it might be the worst NFL trade since. Though the Browns decision to trade for DeShawn Watson (what is it with last names that start with a W that are such a big L in the NFL??) could be a serious contender by this time next year. That had to be one of the dumbest moves I have ever seen a franchise make. They gave up six draft picks, including two first rounders, to trade for a guy who had not played in over a year, had two dozen sexual assault allegations, and then gave him over 200 million dollars of guaranteed money on top of that. Unbelievably stupid.
  8. Bad news for the Knights on Friday was a report that Stone will miss at least the rest of the regular season. Last year Stone came back just in time for the playoffs and they won the cup, so maybe he can come back this year too. It is not a surprise to see teams like the Sharks, Devils, and Coyotes be sellers at the trade deadline, none of those teams will make the playoffs. Devils traded Tyler Toffoli to the Jets and NJ will eat 50% of his salary. Busy day on the trade market.
  9. I have mixed feelings on O'Malley. There are things I like about him but also he can be annoying. I understand when people don't like his attitude. 300 is definitely a stacked card, though I feel Dana oversold the main event a little bit. It will be a good fight though. Edit: I'd like to add Curtis Blaydes, Maycee Barber (though I could go either way on this one), and Rafael Dos Anjos to fighters I would like to see win on Saturday.
  10. Major trade between Vegas and San Jose as the Knights get Tomas Hertl. Hertl is currently injured by expected to be back before the end of the season. If this trade works out it will give Vegas more down the middle and a player with a lot of playoff experience as Hertl was on the Sharks in 2016 when they made the Stanley Cup Finals. This trade I think will work out well for both teams. The Sharks are in a rebuilding stage and shipping the 30-year-old and having Vegas pick up 83% of his salary opens up options for the Sharks. Hertl has six years (I think) left on a major contract that pays him on average over 8 million a year. Sharks also get a first-round draft pick in 2025. Vegas gets two third round picks, one in 2025 and the other in 2027. A quick look might make it seem this was a steal for Vegas, but the Sharks could also benefit from this long term.
  11. Lots of teams making moves with the trade deadline now less than 24 hours away.
  12. Fair questions.
  13. Glad you are here, thanks for joining us.
  14. Anyone run into any problems training within the first week of a fresh tattoo? Contact with the tattoo or rubbing against the uniform could lead to irritation or infection, anyone had any experience with this?
  15. I predict O'Malley is going to take it. Vera won the first fight but that was over three years ago. I think it's a great fight with O'Malley winning by TKO in the 4th or 5th round. Wouldn't be surprised if it went the distance though. I'd like to see Holland, Burns, and Poirier win. Those are not predictions just rooting interest. I've never seen a UFC card I had more interest in from top to bottom, even several of the prelims I am excited for. Looking forward to Saturday!
  16. Agreed that it is very tough. I feel the west is wide open. If the playoffs started today I would put the Oilers as the favorite, but Vancouver has had a strong year, so has Winnipeg, Dallas, and Colorado, and of course Vegas is still the defending champion. It's going to be an interesting playoff as it always is. In the east Florida has been playing out of their minds the past six weeks. I think they have lost two games since January 22.
  17. Thanks for joining the forum, I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
  18. Welcome to the forum.
  19. There might be grave concern in Vegas as the defending champions continue to struggle, losing to the Blue Jackets today. This comes after the ugly 7-2 loss on Saturday against Buffalo. Vegas has allowed 18 goals in three games. Jack Eichel is back for Vegas so that is the good news but they are struggling right now and will not be division champs. The other good news for teams like Vegas is that once you get into the playoffs anyone can make it to the finals. They should get into the playoffs unless there is a total meltdown, though they have now fallen to third in the division with the LA Kings right on their tail. Out east the New Jersey Devils have fired head coach Lindy Ruff. Jersey came into the season with high expectations as a Stanely Cup contender but their season has been a rough one, with 64 points they are currently 8 points out of the final playoff spot in the east. Certainly could argue that the Devils have been the most underachieving team in the league this year. Ruff is the seventh NHL head coach to be fired since the season started.
  20. I appreciate the kind words, sensei8.
  21. Happy Leap Year Day everyone! Make the most of it, there will not be another one until 2028.
  22. The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Maple Leafs on Tuesday and got their 300th franchise win, making them the fastest team in history to 300, it took them 514 games. It ends a seven-game win streak for Toronto. On the other side of it Arizona has now gone winless in their last 13, the longest streak by any team this season. Arizona is a team that might be moving soon and these losing streaks don't help. The NHL is looking at possibly moving them to Houston, Atlanta, or Salt Lake City. There is a chance they could be staying in Arizona, and if so then Salt Lake is likely to get an expansion team.
  23. That’s a tough one for me because they were collectively funny!! Separately, I think Kramer was the funniest of them all, imho. Kramer was the Iggy from Taxi of the Seinfeld show to me. They both are hysterical and brilliantly played. I can't imagine their could ever be a better actor for either role. Though I do wonder how someone like Jim Carrey would do as Kramer, him and Richards both have a gift for physical humor.
