April Fools! No Casual Fridays

News today that the Oakland A's are moving after the season...to Sacramento. The A's lease with the stadium in Oakland ends after this year and the stadium in Las Vegas won't be ready to open until 2028, so the A's will play three years at a AAA ballpark in Sacramento. John Fisher is a disgrace. The A's owner, in my opinion, tanked the team on purpose to set up to move into a new stadium funded by taxpayer money so some billionaires can get richer. Vegas locals did not get to vote on the stadium, yet they are stuck paying for it. How many people who are paying for the stadium can't afford to attend the games? Raiders owner Mark Davis had some unkind words about John Fisher and was not interested in welcoming the A's to Las Vegas. This is a dark day for Oakland sports and MLB. Absolutely appalling. Though it might be interesting to see how this impacts attendance for the rest of the season. One thing I am confident of, it will be a miserable season in Oakland both on and off the field.

Well, I ordered the PPV and the card is only ten days away. Any thoughts? Anyone else going to watch it? Edit: Forgot to mention that if you are interested in buying the PPV you can save ten dollars if order it before April 8.

Long time. Congratulations. -
That is too bad about the Tropicana. It's an iconic Vegas casino. I agree!! Las Vegas will be known as the city that brought 2 major sports that might not ever win their respective championships that have/are built/building billion-dollar stadiums. Is that money well spent?? At least the Knights and the Aces brought championships to Las Vegas in their short history for Sin City in borrowed arena's. The Aces home games are played at the Michelob Ultra Arena and the Knights home games are played at the T-Mobile Arena. Both are multi-purpose indoor arena's. GO YANKEES!! Vegas sure became a sports town fast. It wasn't that long ago that leagues wanted to stay away from sports gambling all together, now it is advertised during the games. It seems that changed when major sports leagues came to Vegas, the Knights and Raiders. As far as the A's, will moving to Vegas and a new stadium mean they spend more money on the roster? 1.5 billion (is it taxpayer money?) to build a stadium and tear down an iconic Vegas location, I'd hope they would do more to improve the team. The A's lost more games than any team in major league baseball last year.

Dye them. Get a plastic bucket at the dollar store, pick a color you often test for (yellow, blue, green), dye them then hang them somewhere to dry (outside is better so it doesn't drip on your floor). Give them away to students that test. Costs you little, makes students happy. Don't put them in the dryer or they'll shrink. I had not considered this. Hmmmm. Might be an idea to run with.

Minnesota pulled the goaltender in overtime again and this time it did not work as Vegas scored an empty net goal to win 2-1. Because Minnesota pulled the goalie in OT and lost, they forfeit the overtime point, so they get zero standing points for this game. It pretty much puts a fork in the Wild for this season. They have less than a 2 percent chance of making the playoffs now. I do think it is the correct call to pull the goalie. One point does not help Minnesota enough to count, they needed two, so the risk is worth it. It worked against Nashville, did not work today. Dallas has clinched a playoff spot, the first team in the West to do so this year. It is going to be exciting down the stretch as the playoffs are only three weeks away! Edit: Colorado and Vancouver are now also in the playoffs, and Austin Matthews scored his 60th goal of the season, making it the second time in three years he has reached 60. -

The Arizona Diamondbacks started the new season strong, winning their opening game over Colorado by a score of 16-1.

Minnesota won but so did Vegas so the Wild did not gain any ground. Minnesota needs to gain two points on Vegas when they play Saturday. Boston, Florida, and Carolina are now in the playoffs. No teams in the west have clinched yet. -
I have no idea why I care about this fight or why I am rooting for Tyson, but I am and I am. Is there a rivalry between Paul and Tyson? What is the point of this fight? The entire thing just feels like a big money grab. Why else is a near 60-year-old man getting into a boxing ring with a 27-year-old?

Thank you, thank you.

BJJ rankings/promotions
KarateKen replied to KarateKen's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
There are several BJJ schools in my city. That will be why the purple belt's class is quiet then! Unless they are a big name competitive bjj guy / mma fighter, if there are other schools then most people will gravitate to the more senior ones Makes sense. -
A few minutes ago I got promoted to green belt. On KarateForums.com

When I take a pair of jeans out of the wash (I hang dry them) and they are dried, I shake them out, up and down, back and fourth, I grab them by the waste and move them with my hands like I was walking. I zig and I zag. It tends to make them feel softer and not as tight, more comfortable on the first wear. Never tried this with my Gi so I have no idea if it would help or not.

It's 2022, where are my gi pants with pockets?!
KarateKen replied to Zaine's topic in Equipment and Gear
I don't think I would use it or care for it. Maybe a back of the pants pocket, maybe, but that would be it. Though because the gi pants don't have pockets I don't use them as workout pants or walk around in them. I guess I could sleep in them but eh. -
Sounds terrible. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have the belt for every rank I have ever held in my entire life, but I also have a number of white belts that came with the Gi that I have never worn. Is there a way to recycle or donate these white belts that I will never use? Is dropping them off at a Goodwill or other donation store even worth it? Do they use them or just throw them out? Anyone know?

One thing I forgot to mention is that I used to collect tickets from concerts, sporting events, ect. I still have the ticket stub from my first rock concert. It was Aerosmith when I was 16 years old. The show had to be rescheduled, twice, but I finally got to go. They are still one of my favorite bands. I threw out most of my old tickets though, it just felt like hoarding. Anytime I watch hoarders I am reminded that I have too much stuff and I start putting items in donation boxes or just throwing stuff out. It's probably good for me that all my tickets are now electronic.

The game on Monday in St. Louis is a big one, then they play in Minnesota on Saturday. Important week for Vegas, a real opportunity to increase separation from teams chasing them. -

Once again the Wild come up short. They got one point against St. Louis tonight but needed two. Minnesota has dropped to 10th in the west behind St. Louis and with Vegas seeming to have snapped out of their slump the already slim playoff hopes for Minnesota are starting to dwindle even further.
