  1. I blame the Eagles for the Chiefs losing.
  2. Presidents of the United States of America - Peaches
  3. Another crash today, this time in Scottsdale, Arizona. Makes me nervous about my flight to Florida next week.
  4. There is no three-peat. The Eagles dominate the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 with a 40-22 blowout. The Chiefs scored some points late to make it look better than it was, this was a complete domination by the Eagles who lead 40-6 at one point. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts gets the MVP, and the Eagles win their second Super Bowl ring. Hurts had 221 yards and two TDs in the air, and over 70 yards and a TD on the ground. Hurts is the only QB in NFL history to rush for over 70 yards in a Super Bowl, and he did it twice. The Eagles defense shut down the Chiefs most of the game, holding them scoreless in the first half and KC did not even pass the 50-yard line until the third quarter. Mahomes had three TD passes, but two interceptions, one for a TD, and also lost a fumble. Very impressive by the Eagles defense and offense. RB Saquon Barkley of the Eagles celebrated his birthday with a Super Bowl win.
  5. In another questionable move by Major League Baseball, A's owner John Fisher has been promoted to the Executive Committee. Fisher has been public enemy #1 in Oakland for years, and I can't remember a time an owner was so unanimously hated by fans all across their own sport, at least not since Art Modell moved the Browns 30 years ago. As if Fisher's behavior in Oakland was not repulsive enough, now reports are that the Las Vegas stadium will go 250 million dollars over the original budget. The A's will be on the hook for that extra money, not the taxpayers, who are already getting stuck with paying almost 400 million dollars for the stadium. Sheesh.
  6. Extended to those impacted by the plane crash in Alaska this morning. What the heck is going on here? Twenty years of planes crashes in ten days. This is crazyville.
  7. The Four Nations Face Off begins on Wednesday and will go until the following Thursday, February 20.
  8. Reports of several Eagles players getting sick with a stomach flu type of virus just days before the Super Bowl, including DL Jalen Carter. The Eagles have been wearing masks, and some players have skipped media to protect their health before the game.
  9. NFL award winners are as follows: MVP - Josh Allen Coach of the year - Kevin O'Connell Assistant coach of the year - Ben Johnson Comeback player of the year - Joe Burrow Offensive player of the year - Shaquon Buckley Defensive player of the year - Patrick Surtain Offensive rookie of the year - Jayden Daniels Defensive player of the year - Jared Verse Walter Payton man of the year - Arik Armstead Salute to Service award - George Kittle Air and Ground players of the year - Josh Allen and Ja'Marr Chase Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 - Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, Sterling Sharp
  10. Guns N Roses - Madagascar
  11. Nope, I don't.
  12. Wild forward Ryan Hartman has been suspended 10 games for his roughing penalty against the Senators the other night, which lead to five-minute major and ejection. Hartman has appealed the suspension. This appears to be another attempt to injure by Hartman, who tried something similar against the Jets last season. Senators won the game 6-0, scoring twice on the major penalty.
  13. Couple more news items: Chicago Bears owners Virginia Halas McCaskey has died at the age of 102. Her father, George Halas, was one of the founders of the NFL and was the Bears owner. Virginia inherited the team after he died in 1983 and had been the owner for more than 40 years, including during the 1985 season where the Bears went 15-1, won their only Super Bowl, and that team is still considered arguably the best single season team in NFL history. Her children, who already work in the franchise, will now inherit the team ownership. President Donald Trump is expected to attend Sunday's game in New Orleans. It will be the first time in history a sitting President will be attending the Super Bowl. The NFL MVP finalists are Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Jarred Goff, and Saquon Buckley. Josh Allen appears to be the frontrunner to win it. The announcement will be made later tonight. Current betting line is Chiefs by 1.5 with the over under at 48.5
  14. I think it is rather common in a lot of types of businesses, people who own the place making fake reviews to prop it up. Corruption is everywhere. I once had a friend who asked me to write a bogus review of a restaurant he worked at because he was furious about the ownership but did not want his name on it because he would get fired and it would hurt his chances getting a job somewhere. I didn't do it and we eventually stopped being friends. I didn't appreciate the suggestion that I should lie about my experience as a customer so he could make his boss look bad. Ridiculous. I've never personally experienced or heard about it in MA. I hope they bust the person impersonated your wife online to serve themselves, that is outrageous.
  15. Right now, the top two teams in the league are Washington in the East and Winnipeg in the West. I still think Vegas is one of the best teams in the NHL, just going through a slump. They will snap out of it.
  16. Neurotic Outsiders - Six Feet Under
  17. MLB umpire Pat Hoberg was fired for sharing sports gambling accounts with a friend of his who was betting on baseball, including a number of games, I think eight, where Hoberg was the umpire. It is a long and detailed investigation that goes back to February of last year. Hoberg was not allowed to umpire in the 2024 season due to the investigation. Hoberg said that he never bet on baseball "in any way shape, or form." Despite acknowledging that the baseball bets were profitable, MLB concluded that the data did not support fixing games. The umpire union also released a statement saying that they "would never defend" and umpire who they thought was betting on games.
  18. Tone Loc - Ace is in the House
  19. Carrie Underwood - Drinking Alone
  20. Winners on Tuesday were the Islanders, Capitals, Sabers, Devils, Bruins, Lightning, Jets, Oilers, and Maple Leafs. Several games still going on. Another busy Tuesday night with 14 games.
  21. A few news items: The Raiders have hired former Eagles and 49ers head coach Chip Kelly to be their offensive coordinator. Saints remain without a head coach but more rumors about Kellen Moore being the leading candidate have surfaced. Kicker Mason Crosby has officially retired after 17 seasons in the NFL. Crosby spent 16 years with the Packers, winning a Super Bowl ring with them in the 2010 season. He last played for the Panthers in 2023. More massage therapists have come out against Justin Tucker, now a total of ten. This could lead to Tucker being cut by the Ravens in the offseason.
  22. Wow, sorry to hear that @sensei8 hope your health improves quickly,
  23. White Lion - When the Children Cry
  24. With the salary cap, free agency, and now a longer season, no question that winning two or three in a row is as challenging as ever.
  25. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked about the refs favoring the Chiefs and if the games were rigged. He was quick to brush it off calling it a "ridiculous theory," despite lots of people saying they don't agree with him, including former NFL player Terrell Owens who has recently stated that he thinks the game is rigged, as well as the brother of Dean Blandino. Blandino is the former NFL Head of Officials, and his brother is now saying that the league favors the Chiefs, and because of an NDA Dean is required to keep quiet about it. An online poll in recent days showed that over 73% of the people who answered believe that the NFL is favoring the Chiefs. Further fanning the flames was the fine handed out to Travis Kelce for taunting. During the game against the Buffalo, Kelce was taunting Bills safety Damar Hamlin after a touchdown. He was fined over 11k dollars for it, but there was no penalty on Kelce during the game. A clearly missed call by the official which benefited Kansas City. Despite no "smoking gun" that there are fixed games in the NFL, more and more fans appear to believe it and it could become a perception problem for the NFL. I don't expect this to have a big impact on the viewership of the Super Bowl, nor do I think it will harm the league long term. The NFL has been through plenty of controversy over the decades, including allegedly covering up concussions, the botched Ray Rice situation, and the kneeling for the National Anthem come to mind, yet the NFL remains the most popular show on TV and the most profitable sports league in world history. If the games are rigged, what the NFL should do is rig the Super Bowl for the Eagles, that way it ends the conversation that it was rigged for the Chiefs, because they will have lost and it discredits everyone who claims that the NFL has fixed it for the three peat. If the Chiefs win, and there is questionable officiating that goes their way, expect more of this after the game. Less than six days until kickoff!
