"This is the method my traininer told me about, and its worked pretty good for me if I say so myself... Goto your kitchen, go into your drawer and pull out your rolling pin, go back to the couch and sitdown watch TV...and roll it back and forth over your shin then when your about to say...in the words of popeye "I can't stands it no more"...do that for a long time and it toughes them pretty good and you don't need to kick, its a good way to impress your trainer when you show up with stronger shins". and how exactly does that work? i never knew you roll a rolling pin over the shins to toughen them? if this really works, how does it work? i will not believes this until you tell me how it works? well if keep on rolling that rolling pin, i'd thought it would wore the skin out, which is worst.

could someone please tell me how to toughen the shins and foot like the muay thai fighters? does constantly kicking the kickbag help and toughen the shins and foot at all, and is it actually effective that way? i've tried kicking the kickbag a few times, but im not sure if any progess in toughening my shins and foot would be made, because it just seems the same. also the other thing is i usually kick the bag with trousers on, could that be another reason why my shins and feet are not so tough, do i need to do it with out trousers on? also when you kick the bag, do you point your toes or do you bend them back, because i notice that when you point the toes, the shin and lower leg muscles are not contracted, but if you bend the toes back, then the muscles are then contracted. which is right? also do i need to moisturize my skin on the legs? someone please help me!

"Do you only eat pizza made by actual Italians?" no i dont only eat pizza made by actual italians, but that got nothing to do with martial arts anyay. simply i just wana been taught by a korean TKD instructor and certified by him too because i havent had this done before. and its best to be certified each time in whatever style by different instructors of different races and background, because its better that way, as there would be variety and true originators of that particular style. thats why i wana be certifed and taught by a korean TKD master, cos korea was the originator and korea is very popular of TKD.

a taekwondo club/training school with korean instructors in the UK? ideally and preferably i would like to be taught and certified by the korean taekwondo professionals because they are the originators and know best for that style. i know that there are loads of korean instructors in korea obviously, but i live in uk, and would like to know where i could be taught and certified by top professional korean instructors here in the uk?

Combative or not combative?
martialartist1 replied to Icetuete's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
combatative are those that specialise more in fighting like boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, JKD, BJJ, shootfighting e.t.c. basically its like all styles without kata and forms, but just made for fighting. -

some questions i need answered plz
martialartist1 replied to AUSSIE's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
bruce lee made screaming or animalistic type sounds because he was expressing himself and really meaning all of his martial arts techniques and moves he made. some other martial artists of different styles also add like a haayaa sound to emphasise the technique thrown and showing there really is maximum effort in the techniques and moves. -
New to Martial Arts.

if grappling and sparring interest you then find a club that concentrates mainly on that so you can work to your desires. -

hiya, i'm a soon to be a 29 yr old girl and 5'2"and slightly chunky. anyhow, i would like to take martial arts but i have no idea what kind. there are sooo many choices!! when i was 10 yrs old, my bro and i were taking free karate classes given by 2 cops at their homes. it was great but i am pretty positive one of the exercises(legs opened, knees bent, moving from side to side-going all the way down) messed up my knees because ever since i have bad knees. so, giving y'all my "medical " background, is there a style that would fit my knees? i mean needs? hmm let me see, 29 year old? bones ageing, about to turn 30, you need to relieves stress, keep fit, improve health, as after 30 your health will deprove if you dont exericse or train. martial arts lesson learnt by probably joking cops?, (which means unproper). chunky? oh fat you mean? need to burn that! the way of burning fat?cardiovascular workout ofcourse!. where cardiovascular work found? sport kickboxing, karate will offer you the safest of practices. if i were you i woundnt do muay thai, due to your messed knees. also you can do tai chi to improve your health, as tai chi is the worlds greatest martial art for healing and improving internal health. decision is yours, wana stay fit, loose fat, kickboxing, karate as they are the safest. improve internal health, and heal yourself, also to learn self defense, then the martial art from china, tai chi.

HELP!! HELP!!
martialartist1 replied to quigley_321's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Ok, I want to take a martial art for self defense and the ones in my area are Taekwondo, -ryu Karate, Shou Tsu Do Kung Fu, Judo, and Kung Fu San Soo well, its upto you which you take, but i think out of that chioce, i'd take TKD. -
how do you fight someone in a low stance? how do you defend against someone in a low stance that charges for your legs? just some questions well, to fight someone in low stance is to fight in high stance. to defend against someone in low stance that charges for your legs is to jump away.

Top 10 Self Defense Martial Arts
martialartist1 replied to aznkarateboi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
bullshit! the best self defense is Jeet Kune Do, the style bruce lee founded, created and developed. all the rest are crap, no one in all time will ever beat bruce lee's Jeet Kune Do style. JKD was and still is the ultimate martial art style that bruce lee used, and no other martial artist will ever match. and thats why they always say countless times, that bruce lee was way ahead of his time! -
mixed martial arts isnt mixed, but mixed only by fighter. fighter doesnt mix, yet mix isnt the fighter.

yeh, simply tyson would win most of the time, as tyson is one of the greatest boxers of all time!

info about styles
martialartist1 replied to eanels68's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
well TKD is kicks and TSD is hands. TKD kicks are concentrated, muay thai kicks are the toughest. TSD is like TKD, but modified. modified is not TSD or TKD. -
Different Styles
