You do find it elsewhere though. Just not by the same name. e.g. Jack Dempsey's Falling Step in boxing Jack dempseys fallit step is not sine wave. And to those Sine wave supporters like yourself claiming that it has been exaggerated in recent time, check out general chois own demonstrations of it on youtube. He is rocking up and down as if its the Titanic. Extremely bouncy instructional. Can I ask why you train ITF then if you don't like it? Maybe a different style might be more suitable? I like everything about it except sine wave.

Do they have a "Contact Us" button? Yes but should I have to ask? Wouldn't it make sense to state whether its greco Roman orR freestyle? Or do most clubs train both? Suggestions on how to improve their website would also be another great use for their "contact us" button. I'd recommend doing so in a courteous and professional manner, however. I have sent an email

Which is the toughest for the body and least appropriate to start at my age? I am only looking for recreational purposes. I love wrestling the most and was not bad at it training with actual wrestlers as a 16 year old. I have a good sense of how to use my center of gravity and stall some takedown attempts if I have some physical advantages over the guy (longer, reachier). Got a stalemate against the wrestler in my high school. Similar weight but I was much taller (skinny guy). Never done any wrestling on the ground. Never done submission grappling.

If you look at ITF free sparring rules, kicks are worth more than punches. It makes no sense to be training 95% hand techniques and then expect students to excel at kicking in sparring, in which kicking is encouraged.

Sounds like you were learning fundamental movements for Dan Gun / Won Hyo... Typical ITF class to me. It's not all about kicking and to be honest the curriculum has minimal kicks until 1st kup. Less than 10% of the moves in the patterns are kicks until you get higher up and even then you're not going to focus on them every session. If you want more kicks you might have to think about changing style as it's not going to be much different at any other ITF club. I'm a red belt, and classes are mixed. Everybody trains together, including 5 dans. It's like this almost every day. It's a breath or fresh air if we throw even as much as a side kick in "basics". That is almost as rare as a supernova though.

I want to switch club but there are no other ITF clubs nearby. I feel this is a complete rip-off. Judging by the classes online, this is not normal prioritization.

This isn't once or twice. He goes through all hand techniques and completely neglects the kicks.

This is what we did yesterday: knife hand block (moving forward). Wedging block (moving forward). Twin forearm block (moving forward). Side punch. High block (moving forward). Low block (moving forward). The only kick was a warm-up (rising kick). Blocks, blocks, blocks, and more blocks. And punches. And this is a constant pattern in our training. Would you ask for a refund if this was your TKD or Karate place? The fact that it's Taekwondo makes it even worse to me.

Press the square next to the volume symbol and the view will be full. You can also slow motion it if of course.

Do I kick unconventionally (video)?

As for forms competiton. Modern ITF competitiors don't even chamber their turning kicks fully, they do just slight turns and high hip. That would be concidered an incomplete turning kick according to the encyklopedia and wouldn't hurt a fly, but looks more clinical in the eyes of judges because of the flexibility display and simplicity. -

He made a factual claim. Show me where in the ITF encyclopedia it states which direction the side kick should travel. I would refer you to pages 25 to 33 of volume 4 of the encyclopedia which details the side kick extensively. My sources also include the various ITF IIC and ITS courses I've been on including with the current technical director of the ITF. Your welcome to take my advice or leave it. You asked about your kick from an ITF a perspective and I have given mine. For what it's worth I have won international medals in patterns, sparring and breaking and am currently national coach for my country. If you were one of my squad I'd be giving you the same advice. As it stands your kick is not technical by ITF standards. A heavy amount of black belts kick with legs bent, never mind direction. By that standard, most TKD black belt students don't meet the criteria and should have their belts revoked. Do you support that? -

Kicking upwards from the chamber is a big no in ITF because you lose the ability to put the mass behind the kick and your body must be in a line behind the kicking tool. . There is no ITF stipulation which direction the kick should travel. -

There are areas for improvement. Kicking upwards from the chamber is a big no in ITF because you lose the ability to put the mass behind the kick and your body must be in a line behind the kicking tool. Have a look at this video for some pointers: He starts by discussing the alignment and why its important. That's only due to the unnatural height, stretching the limits of my flexibility. -

That's because I don't have a target. But I can pick one and turn my face away. Don't find that very hard.
