  1. I believe that even though hair pulling is against UFC rules, there are still maximum length standards. I remember Emil Meek being forced to shave for a fight. Women fighters usually have corn rows. Whether this is to comply with rules or be more practical I am not sure.
  2. I talk. It is a habit. I continue to issue instructions when controlling a patient at work.
  3. It depends on the type of fight. If you are in the UFC or Boxing, there are rules that must be followed. Also it is useful as a marketing tool like the Canadian guy billed as "The Viking". If it is a non-consensual fight, then there is a clear disadvantage. I would expect a serious fighter would take his or his opponents hair into consideration. But beyond those considerations, military and law enforcement often wear their hair shorter than regulation.
  4. In case you missed it. Welcome to the forum!
  5. I am neither Dan graded nor in the position of making rules for visitors. My 2 cents anyway... I would have no problem putting on a white belt when visiting another dojo. I would probably offer, as I am there to learn, not show off my ranking. Even being a yellow belt, I would offer.
  6. I have an invitation to train with some of the area Police Officers. They meet at another dojo about 50 minutes from me. I would probably attend 1-2 times a month even though the group meets every week. I would have to trade shifts as I normally work that time. No charge. That dojo lets the are police use the space. Many of the participants are Academy instructors and hold rankings in various arts. LEO and Security only. I think we got invited because we work with them frequently at the hospital.
  7. I came up with a third theory. His eyes weren't closed. His blinks were so fast that the camera technology at the time could not keep up.
  8. I have 2 theories... Bruce Lee transferred the speed from his blinks to his hands and feet. Or... he moved so fast he blinks look longer than normal through the time paradox.
  9. I don't find tattoos intimidating. I know certain parts of the body are more painful than others to have tattoos applied, but I don't see it as a mark of enduring pain. Burn scars are a mark of enduring pain. Tattoos are so common now that I do not see them as a fad. There are some tattoos that I see as a fad within the world of tattoos. Tribal bands on frat guys for an example. I have none. I would, but I have not found something I want to have for life. On a side note. I wonder what my generation and the generations behind me will look like in the nursing home. Dancing to Jay-Z with tramp stamps sagging between our butt cracks and our saggy ear lobes flopping from the extreme gauging.
  10. So far... I have had a month of what seems like slight improvement. The numbness is no longer up to my navel, but spends most of its time in my feet. I have been able to take stairs 2 at a time down, like I used to. I have been given the clearance to begin Ocrevus after July 17th (6 weeks after my tetanus booster). I did qualify for financial aid which will be a big help. It will not relieve symptoms, but (hopefully) prevent new lesions. I asked my neuro doc what I can expect as far as impacts to the head with MS. YAY!!! She cleared me to get hit in the head!!!
  11. Does that mean you're joining in on the fun? No pressure:) I am joining the fun. The lowest I have ever been since 25 (I typically only get weighed at the doctor's) is 226. That was earlier this year when I did not feel good and ate little. When I took this job I was 248. Right now my motivator is improving my karate, and seeing my duty belt past my body armor.
  12. I like a tall size Guinness.
  13. I am the weapon. This long stick is merely a tool.
  14. Also, I recommend you see your doctor. Since there may be additional medical and injury concerns, advice would be beneficial.
  15. I am at 6ft and 230.8 LBS. I started replacing one of my meals each day with a salad, and have reduced my soda intake.
  16. Michael Jai White. Of course Jean Claude Van Damn.
  17. If I were in your situation, I would choose convenience. 4 hours is a long commute which gets less convenient with bad weather. Don't worry about being out of shape. I bet there will be other out of shape people there. I know it is easier to stay motivated and committed with easy access. For me anyway.
  18. I am not one to seek attention, so I don't have a glory wall. My college degrees, Eagle Scout award, and other achievements, sit in a folder in the filing cabinet. My white belt sits on an empty hanger in my closet in case I ever change arts, and do not want to buy a new one.
  19. Is it one of the orange Homer buckets from Home Depot? Because, those are display worthy.
  20. Sensei Jonathan Alexis-Shotokan with a mix of Judo and Jujitsu-Waterville Maine-2016-2017 (Current)
  21. I want to see if McGregor attempts a takedown or kick out of reflex.
  22. Why not cut you 19 1/2 down?
  23. I feel the same Wado. I am hoping McGregor wins, because he is the underdog. He does have youth on his side, and if he has been training BOXING really hard for the entire time he has been running his mouth, he might have a chance. Despite Mayweather's age, it is still hard to overcome a lifetime boxer. I expect he has been training hard because he has more to lose in this fight than McGregor.
