Bruce Lee's Dad and Uncle
Blade13 replied to mastertae's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Im not sure about the uncle, but I know that his brother, Robert, studies Tai Chi. -
Well, there are many different kinds of poems. Some rhyme, some don't. Just read a lot of different kinds of poetry, and you will get the idea. It doesnt matter how many words per line, and it doesnt even have to be in lines. One poet wrote all of their poetry in a spiral form. The essence of how to write poetry couldnt be put into one post. We spent about 5 weeks going over all of it in my advanced honors literature class. There is so much more to it than most people know. You could write it without knowing all the terms though. Thats why I say read poetry until you get a feel for it. You could try some haikus to start with.

Im against fighting the animals, but I dont mind the human battle to the death. As long as the fighters are all doing it willingly.

k-1 qualifier in denver
Blade13 replied to ramcalgary's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Yeah, thats the only time I ever see any martial arts on tv. And if there is martial arts, it is usually forms or breaking anyway. -
Well, mine seems solid. Im not sure though. The most Ive cut with it is 1" thick limbs and stuff. I dont know if that would be enough to make it shake. Maybe I'll cut some watermelons when it warms up a little. Im in love with those swords at bugei.com now. I kinda wish I wouldnt have noticed that link. lol

The last half hour rocked! lol I was gonna go see it last night, but they had two people guarding the doors to the movie, so I couldnt sneak in. Had to go see clockstoppers instead (Hey, I paid for a ticket, Im gonna see something, dangit!) and after it was over, we noticed the guards were gone and walked in. Im downloading the full movie now, so I can see it. I would definately recommend it tho. Well.... at least the last 30 minutes. lol

worst martial arts movie ever
Blade13 replied to ramcalgary's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Nope, no cursing allowed. If ya do, it will most likely be censored. -
van_damme, Jackie Chan IS skilled, but he learned martial arts for his acting career. He was an actor, first and foremost, and he is a very talented actor. Do you think that you could go to china and be as proficient in chinese as he is in english, while being a good actor? If not, dont diss him for not being the best at english. Besides, its been said that english is one of the hardest languages in the world to learn. And to answer the original question, yeah. Acting in a martial arts movie would be really fun. If there was an offer, I wouldnt turn it down.

The only time I write poetry is for my friends when they need it for school, lol. I write a lot of songs though. Since songs are just poetry with a tune, I guess you could say I write poetry. Most of them are romantic, but my others are about the punk lifestyle, betreyal, people who are annoying, just songs that make no sense but are funny, and one vanilla ice parody. hehe... My friend writes a lot of actual poetry though. Shes really good at it too.

Whoa PacificShore, those swords we're awesome! Too bad they cost so much. G95- Im not sure how "solid" it is. I haven't used it on anything very hard. Actually, Im not quite sure what you meant by solid. So, if you could enlighten me on that, then I could probably better answer your question.... or it could be the fact that I just woke up.

You could try... http://www.mantisswords.com They are hand made, but VERY pricy. Some upwards of $1000. I got my katana from http://www.budkww.com Their warehouse is about 20 miles from me, so I pick up a lot of my weapons there. My sword works great though. I would recommend it. Here is the link... http://www.budkww.com/partsview.asp?action=lookup&partno=G748LB&subject=U3&catpos=1 Good balance, sharp, etc. It doesn't say this on the site, but it is full tang. Hope I was of some help.

Im really sorry to hear about your friend. I lost one a couple of years ago because he drowned while saving his cousin. They will be in my prayers.

Oh yeah, I forgot to list my instruments, lol. I play rhythm guitar in a punk band. My main job is being the vocalist. I can use turntables, but I was outvoted and the other members wont let me use them in the band. haha I also play a VERY little piano.

http://www.djgear.com http://www.turntablestore.com http://www.dj-jd.com http://www.worldmusicsupply.com http://www.idjnow.com Aside from those, try Ebay. I found some killer deals on turntable systems there! I saw one set w/ 2 gemini turntables, a mixer (forgot what brand, it was good though), some lights, wiring, headphones, and 25 assorted records. It sold for like... 300. Separate, it would have been over 800. Hope that helped. _________________ *To HELL with opportunity! Action Movies
Blade13 replied to KickChick's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I always look forward to Van Damme week on USA! Ive liked Jean Claude since I was little, and Im loyal, lol. One time, I watched his movies so often, that I started speaking with a belgian accent, and it was never on purpose either. Aside from the bad acting, he is still a good martial artist. Maybe that acting is because he learned to speak english by watching the Flintstones. *shrugs* _________________ *To HELL with opportunity! Well, gumby is half right. The berimbau is one of the instruments for capoeira music. The music is used in the game, the jogo. The ginga is the basic movement that the other moves are based on. I definately agree with spinninggumby on the fact that it looks REALLY cool! lol Its even more fun to do.
-
Dang, I live in Georgia.
-
Welcome to the boards dude! Lovin the enthusiasm!
-
Do any of you know where I can get a quality berimbau (or other capoeira supplies) and be able to pay COD or some other method not involving checks, credit cards, paypal, etc.? Being 15, those payment methods would be out of the question. Most martial arts supply sites dont have any capoeira equipment, and the few capoeira sites that i find dont have payment options that I could use. HELP! AAHHH!
-
Im with Crucio on this! If ya need another fighter, Im in. Well, If its somewhere near me, which I highly doubt cuz no one on any message boards ever lives near me. lol

Huge pants, deep pockets. Thats how I used to do it, but now I just carry an asp, if anything. Usually nothing. _________________ *To HELL with opportunity! I create opportunity!*-Bruce Lee ______________ [ This Message was edited by: Blade13 on 2002-03-24 18:24 ]
