Budo Taijutsu used to be called Ninpo Taijutsu which is a modern Ninjutsu in the sense that there are only 3 Ninjutsu Ryu taught. There are 9 schools of fighting 3 are Ninjutsu Ryu and 6 are Bujutsu Ryu. Most of the Ninjutsu Ryu died out and only these 3 are left. So technically it's the only legimate Ninjutsu being taught. Grandmaster Hatsumi changed the name to Budo Taijutsu because of the stigma Ninjutsu had in the eighties during the big Ninja craze. He didn't want to be associated with that narrow view of Ninjutsu Hollywood created, so he changed the name to Budo Taijutsu, which in my opinion is more accurate anyway.

Van Damme sucks, what was he doing in Blood Sport slapping people with his feet. Those kicks are useless. When Jet Li hits you can feel it. -
Musashi lost against a master of the Bo. The Bo is and awesome weapon. The Yari or Spear is even better.

If you had a Samurai fight a Kali Warrior the samurai would chop him in half. Using the stick to block a knife or a small sword might work with the kind of swords they used but a Katana would cut right through that stick and keep going. From my understanding the Kali Warriors small sword was made for slicing and the idea was to widdle away at the opponent until the distance could be closed for the kill. The samurai would wait for the distance to be right and would strike, one strike one kill. The samurai also fought in close and were expert grapplers with or without their weapons. When I said Samurai I didn't mean the one in the movies walking around town with their Hakama on. I meant a fully battlefield ready Samurai, the kind that fought in battles, not one that bought his status. Samurai carried a Yari and a katana and a small sword with them in battle. They could use any weapon they could find. The Samurai were not taken over by some outside force, it was their own people.

Cybren I've done it many times, groin shots work nicely and thanks for comparing me to Bill Gates. -
Like soccerball ball or baseball ball. The Bo staff, I mean the Bo is a great and versatile weapon.

Martial Artist wrote: Is that why the Spanish were able to outlaw and forbid the practices of their MA's and rule them, the majority of them are Catholic, most of them have Spanish last names and their country is named after King Phillip. I'd say that's pretty conquered. However, the Spanish entertained the idea of invading Japan and were highly advised not to. The reason was that the warriors of Japan were to highly skilled and the Spanish feared they could not succeed in conquering Japan. So they scrapped the idea. Don't think the Samurai were only able to fight with a sword, they were also well rounded warriors. Samurai fighting arts are some of the most complete fighting arts out there. It's just that there aren't that many good teachers of it here in the states.

Sure kick him in the groin and follow up with a series of strikes until his out. A hammer blow to the nose after a good groin kick works pretty good. -
FTGU said: No one said their style is the best here. Are you feeling a little insecure? What's wrong with studying the origin of Styles of MA? You can get a better understanding of why they teach certain things a certain way. More information is better than less. I guess some people think they know it all, huh. Wing Chun Tong is the best right?
