Ok im a huge fan of filipino weapons such as the balisong(butterfly knife) I live in Can and it is tremendously illegal, however i find it is a good asset to MA training especially in filipino MA. Whats ur oppinion on that and if u also live where it is illegal why should they change that law.

IMO i think one should master there body first then i beleive weapons only become an extention of ur body which makes it easier to master.

It makes sense but i beleive that is not an accurate awnser i beleive the dragon is the most powerfull because of its rank inthe world(mythologicaly ofcourse) very intelligent highest acheivement of spiritual cultivation and raw power of self, i beleive through some readings that the dragon appeared through MA practice in such diciplines as Taichi, baguazhang and so on and so forth to dipict the MA practitioner as being at the highest point of a MA ability I.E -enlightenment.

Ofcourse its up to the teacher But that is the point why award such a rank It may not signifie he is the best fighter but will currupt the proper growth of a MA if u can understand that. N e ways like i said b4 i appreciate everyones oppinion and thats really all i wanted to know so have fun training and always work hard at it. -
Soo Bahk Do help?
Kaju_influenced replied to BKJ1216's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Soo Bahk Do is an ancient, traditional Korean martial art comprising hand and foot techniques. The art is renowned for its disciplined approach and emphasis on the tradition and technical aspects of martial art. Like most traditional martial art systems, Soo Bahk Do has unlimited horizons. Consistent training leads to improvement not only in physical ability, such as flexibility, strength, stamina and speed, but also mental focus and application of will. These benefits develop a sense of calm and quiet confidence in the practitioner. However do not dismiss kempo, i have studied it firsthand and it is known for its lighting fast consequtive striking ability, however now that u know what it is the choice is ultimately yours KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT! -
Muay Thai
Kaju_influenced replied to Nai Khanom Tom's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Very true but my point is no matter what u know about fighting or always beat ur opponent up u can still be an a44hole MA is not about my style will beat urs no matter what, its about understanding acceptance and personal growth, with this in mind u can do anything as a MA -

BJK do you even do a martial art. Have u any experience at all other then what u read, i can appreciate everyones coments about this particular subjects however u seem to still be missing the point, This is true, think about it if u are 15 or sixteen yrs old for intance and have a lets say 3rd degree would u not let that get to ur head? this is what i mean i just find a style that is too rewarding with belts over time will diminish the proper position of a growing MA. We must also think about street effectiveness as i said before when i was fifteen i sure as hell could not atall be worthy of such rank even though ive been training 4 long time but this is not the point like i mentioned a belt really doesnt dipict a good martial artist i just was wondering why some disciplines give it away so easily. Listen its very simple if ur instructor says in ten yrs you can get ur black belt then u might slack for 9 and a half yrs then the next 6 months work ur a$$ of because u know ur gonna get that rank. Its about proper growth as a martial artist that is all and i find a dicipline that is tooo rewarding will diminish that growth -
Greetings brother

Yes ofcourse but u can still be injured so be carefull and good luck! -
Muay Thai
Kaju_influenced replied to Nai Khanom Tom's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I agree and have much repect for the art but dont get ur head stuck in your a$$(no offense). For u maybe but it is said "the stiff tree will break in the wind and the grass will yeild and live to see another day". Have u ever been in a serious fight without a judge and a ring, what if 5 men rush u with bats what then, my point is not to bash ur style but to remember that the style of muay thai might be the one for u and on the other hand karate might be better for someone else. This is also not entirely correct, what if ur opponent will not use force against u but yeild to everything u do, u will never succeed in wining. My friend i repect your style and repect your respect to the style but dont get binded by it, like an old proverb said to his student when they sat down to drink tea- The master sat down with the learned man and the learn man would interupt the master with his own opinion on the subjects they discused. The master stopped talking to pour some tea for the learned man until the cup started to overflow"stop stop no more tea can fit in this cup" the learned man said."If u do not first empty your cup how can u taste my cup of tea". I dont really know why u are bent on thinking everyone is against muay thai? Its a very good style however by posting somehting like this only brings contreversy and will limit ur true potential. Kicks elbows and knees are good to know but u can still be an a$$hole, MA is about understanding acceptance and growth and by one thing i know it seems u are giving the style a bad name by the post u have put here. I am sure Ajarn "Chai" Sirsute will not agree with your allegations on this subject so my friend dont forget empty ur cup -
I agree jerry however ther is a distinct difference between chi and spirit, or shen which is the higher acheivement of chi practice, as u progress in internal training ur chi progresses to a higher level shen(spirit). thanx jerry for reply KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!

karatekid said Well i am currently practicing kajukenbo(ultimate style of dirty streetfighting) and our training goes beyond kicks and punches, we essentialy learn to deal with any combat situation. From a opponent to multiple opponents with weapons. As for realism thats a different story, our dicipline is based and respected on one sole thing violence and our great tolerance to it.let me put it this way with a couple of kajukenbo axioms for u-"Sweat more in the dojo and bleed less in the street"or"Training is never truly finished until there is blood on the floor" this is the reality of my dicipline or more the reality of life. Don't get me wrong i love tradition and have a great repect for it however like TJS said Which i agree with totaly! Traditional styles that bind themselfs to old ways are obselete in todays "COMBAT"situations not betterment of self so u see its a issue of combat effectiveness. THNX for the replies everyone KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT! -
13yr old masters!!!!!!!!!
Kaju_influenced replied to Kaju_influenced's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Thnx for the replies everyone but u seem to be mising the point its not about reaching a point of maturity or being an adult to receive a bb. A bb means nothing, what im saying is that i find to many arts today too rewarding regardless of age i was just using the child as a better example. U see when a school is too rewarding especially to a child he will grow to think he is actually worthy of the rank but thats just my oppinion. In my dicipline because of this reason the ammount of traning one receives in the begining stages of our style is the equivalent to a 1st degree blackbelt in a more foregiving style so what i meant was more or less the false reality it gives too a younger student. I.E if that 13yr old was put in a streetfighting situation with four guys u think he will live More or less i beleive that to obtain such a rank one should be able to be worthy of it and not by knowing all these forms, I am currently seeking a BB in kajukenbo and im still a intermediate however i know the forms and techniques for a BB but am i worthy of it no. N e ways thnx everybody for the replies and KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT! -
Alright i know most of u probably are wondering the same thing i am why do we see such young kids with blackbelts. My sifu has an old friend that he recalls her telling him that her 13 year old son was going for his 3rd degree black belt exam riiight, i wanna know ur opinions on this subject and if anyone out there at a young age have a 2nd or third or whatever degree blackbelt, do u think u are worthy of it and why? Thnx

Ok guys i just want ur opinions on the growing problem with the effectivness of traditional martial arts in our ever changing society, i have no problem with tradition its great however it lacks the effectivness in todays street conflicts, i practiced choylayfut and its a great style hoewever it has not at all help me in a combat situation because of the tradition( for something that was created years ago has gone effective to obselete) because it has stuck itself to traditional ways. So give me ur opinion on this particular subject without conflict pls
