  1. jmy77: thx for your reply and advice on the training program but the problem is like i said b4 i don't actually have access to a gym all i have is a set of old dumbells with a max weight of about 5 kg on each side...i think that the navy seals thing is quite good though...thank you btw, BKJ1216 and ZR440: I do actaully attend school and i don't mean to b big headed but i do work really hard...i alwayz put skool infront of everything else because of the reasons u guys said...karate is something i do as a sport and for fun - nothing serious though i want to improve my karate and my athletic ability...
  2. thank you for the advice every1...all advice is much appreciated...i have been doing karate for about 3.5 yrs and we always stretch before the class...i think i shud take ur advice and stretch outside the class as well...rather than strength, i would favour flexibility so from now on i am going to concentrate on flexibility but i don't want to neglect strength training either ...wat do u think?
  3. for the karate standard i am at at the moment, i have a brown belt grading coming up and for it, we have a flexibility test whereby we sit on the floor with our legs spread out and we hav to touch floor with out elbows... all u guys r amazingly felxible but my flexibility is appauling...very poor...especially my hamstrings and groin area.....i have this psychological factor affecting me wheneva i want to stretch and due to the pain i endure while stretching i neva get any postive work done and neva experience any benefits.....i also find sitting in seiza very hard and it hurts sooo much.... plz cud n e of u give me tips on how i can overcome this flexibilty problem....i am not overwieght...i am underweight actually! and i can't kick jodan at all...barely chudan but when i kick chudan it lacks in power....
  4. hey i just wanted to say thx for all ur replies.... my training program probably has to b modified so that it leads to failure...thx for the advice abt the 8th rep being the 'failure rep' i think ur rite in a way by saying i need to train my mind because that is important too....ma workout is like this on every monday\wednesday and friday and i use weekends for rest: i use 5 kg weights and first i do: 3x25 pressups 3x20 situps 5x3 pullups then... 3x20 bicep curls 1x100 wrist extensors on both arms i do 3x3 of the exercise where u pull the weight behind ur head and back again which exercises the triceps..... also 2x20 shoulder presses and alternate pressess i don't have a lot of equipment and i am really poor but i am trying to make the most of wat i have... i don't particularly want an amazing phyisique coz i am only just 16 but i want to put on some meat so i can develop a certain amount of power and decent posture with a strong stance...thats all..... i do eat loads of protein...i make sure i always have a side helping with all my meals with a good source of protein with like baked beans or soya beans or something.... i was wondering whether wheneva i exercise that all my muscles that i exercise have to b completely worn out where i can hardly hold a pencil?
  5. Hey... I have been doing this training program for quite a while in the hope that it would improve my physique but it doesn't have seem to have done that...it has improved my strength drastically but my arms remain really stick-like and i have and overall lanky physique... is that to do with like my genetics or is it because am not lifting enough weights....i am under 16 however so it could be to do with the level of hormone in my blood but i am not sure....the rest of the people my age in my dojo seem to have an amazing physique but they don't even work out !!! could some1 help me plz?
