is isometric stretching the most effective method to gain flexibility...I am genetically extremely unflexible...my dynamic flexibility isn't too bad however my static streches are appauling and iv tried so hard to improve yet i am not making any gains. I am willing to give isometrics an intensive shot even tho i have to be careful not to over do it. off the tangent slightly, can isometric tension and dynamic tension exericses actually build muscle? apparently it can. but i cant understand how hypotropy can be stimulated without breaking down muscle fibres and rebuilding them. or am i just assuming that isometrics dont break down muscle fibres when in actual fact they do

can you do isometrics to stimulate pectoral hypertropy...im reffering specifically to dynamic strength by Harry Wong - people hu have read this will know wat im on about.

pushups will make it worse coz ur gonna contract it which isnt what u need. the converse would help recovery i.e. light stretching and massaging. infact i think you should take it easy for a while cz ur onli going to make it worse.

I find i can lift more in vertical raises than lateral raises...should I be developing the lateral raises more to bring it up to the same level? Also what is the best amount of repetitions to do these in and sets wise?

Chi kung?
KarateKid7 replied to Goju_boi's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
i think the pH level changing is related to breathing in the sense it can be altered by hyperventilation as this increases CO2 levels in the blood and hence the acidity due to formation of carbonic acid -
anyone? please.

i dont mean to sound annoying but i kno the wealth of info on this forum regarding stretching. some of it is scientific and it is necessary to understand dat pre stretching...but has any one got a ready stretch routine that implements all the science...with enough time for recovery (i.e. isometrics, static, ballisitc, the neccesary strength exercises). Like has any1 got a down to earth stretching routine that is easy to follow and will give u good flexibility in a decent amount of time. I am just looking for one place that has all the info put in a simple easy to follow workout. Thanks in Advance. I would be VERY happy if some1 could point me in the right direction as I have been looking to improve my kicks for competition i.e. jodan and people merely said practice your kicks but i dont even hve the flexibility to practice my so called kicks. I mean front kick sure but when i do roundhouses, i can feel tension in my glutes, lower back, hips and hamstrings....plz somebody help!

fist filled with Chi?
KarateKid7 replied to dtstiachi's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
i havent herd of fist full of chi but if u want chi to make ur punches more effective...u imagine the chi leading up thru ur arms and penetrating the target thus flowing thru the fist...not merely concentrating it there...it has to flow....flow out of ur fingers and palm and knuckles. -
is this possible...any1 kno about activating certain meridians or energy centres in the body to assist this?
-
Im not sure if this is possible but I have heartd rumours that certain specific exercises tend to boost this muscle building hormone more than others. Any1 hav any tips or cud point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance

stimulating decent hypertrophy in pecs using callisthenics
KarateKid7 replied to KarateKid7's topic in Health and Fitness
i agree with u radok...plus weights ontop of callisthenics is not strictly weights as u are using ur own body mass hence there is less stress on joints etc..
