  1. Kirves? That means axe in estonian language!
  2. Oh, ok. Thanks SaiFights.
  3. HAHHAHHAHA!! Just like my instructor does, and I always laugh when I see those hyper active kids!
  4. My brother is a nice, but annoying hyper active little kung-fu guy lol
  5. ...Now my estonian instructor said: "I wouldn't like it, if you would wear a black gi" ......is Kimono colour really so necessary?
  6. Well, all karatekas know, the traditional Budo colour is white. And karatekas usually wear white gi's. But I've seen many others, who wear black and blue gi's. My swedish Sensei said once: "I prefer white colour, because it's the colour of the way of Budo and Karate, it shows peace and traditional karate, it's shows, that you will fight till the death! That's the meaning of the white colour!" Now, I wonder, does some schools use black or blue gi's only because they don't practise traditional karate? And I've seen, some karatekas just buy an extra gi which is blue or black for not making the white one dirty. I have some karatekas at my Dojo who wear black gi's when training outside. Does anyone here have that kind of gi too and why? I would like to know the reason, because I've been thinking of buying an extra gi for outside tranings on the grass and so on... (but why does the kung-fu people wear black then? Oh.. maybe for them, white means death, lol, or something...) Hope I'll get some answers to my questions. Thanks.
  7. I saw a movie where a guy was fighting with a sai, it was really cool. Now I understand why fireka loves that sai. Now I love the sword and sai!
  8. Well, I guess I have to repeat again: T H E R E I S N O B E S T M A R T I A L A R T
  9. I do. Because I can perform open hand strikes powerfully.
  10. Welcome and enjoy!
  11. I own a nunchaku and a bo.
  12. american people are lazy? ....nah.... everybody can be lazy sometimes...
  13. Well, my favourite character is Mikoto and Rimururu. And yours?
  14. I have the same problem! My knees hurt really much when somebody hits it or when I sit on my knees. I wonder why it is like that, my parents say that it's because of karate, but I don't think so...
  15. Listen: The style isn't important, the importan is who your instructor is.
  16. Well... Wado-ryu.... I used to practise it, but my instructor got interested in the style which I used to practise in Sweden (shito-ryu), so now we train shito-ryu too. And guess why shito ryu, ... well, because there are not so many katas in Wado-ryu, it's not so good to compete with that style, it's quite hard to win with Wado-ryu (if you want to be a competitor). Wado-ryu is not so soft and it doesn't have such 'round-looking' techniques, in that style, it's not so important to be fast as in shito-ryu, but Kumite (sparring) is good in Wado-ryu. Shito-ryu has the traditional Kumite way. Anyway, Wado-ryu (I'm just honest) isn't such an effective style, but it has it's own good and weak things, like in every style. (I personally would prefer to practise another style than Wado-ryu).
  17. In my Dojo, we train with 'sandbags', we put them around our feet or hands, it makes you stronger and the punches will become more powerful.
  18. Well.... I wouldn't say what it exactly could be and nor would I say, that someone is better or worse. There can be many reasons: 1. Maybe some of the competitors were tired that day, had a bad day or something else which has to do with health. 2. Maybe the instructor hasn't taught them some good techniques. 3. Or maybe, there was a more experienced fighter and maybe the opponent didn't know so much. 4. Maybe, it really is, that some martial arts have techniques, which are better or more useful in fighting. 5. Anyway, it depends on the fighter, the instructor's training method, the martial art the figther practise, and if the fighter WANTS to win and train hard.
  19. Well, first we learn a kata at our Dojo. Then, when everybody have learnt it, we start with the Bunkai. And usually, we learn and practise this for competitions. And in the other hand, we learn it for understanding what the techniques and movements are meant for in the kata.
  20. Makiwara? Well, we train with makiwara's quite often in my Dojo.
  21. That's right. The training method and the fighter. It depends on that. And of course, on the instructor too.
  22. Hmmm.... well, IF I could run, then I would. Bruce Lee said: Even I ran away sometimes, it's the best choice when you can do it But, if I can't run away, then I would... 1) Show a scary face at him/her, like: BWAH! OR 2) Wait for his attack and then do a... (what was that word in english)... umm.. do that 'trick' my instructor taught me.
  23. I like the fast techniques in my style, it's very effective (shito-ryu).
  24. Well, and my favourite strikes are OPEN hand strikes. I'm faster at open hand strikes and when one can do those strikes in the correct way, fast and with "soft and hard", then the strikes are very powerful. For example, Tai Chi and Crane-style (kung-fu) have most open hand strikes, and it's really powerful, don't you think so?
