  1. SaiFights I think that may be it... Though I never went inside, I always stayed out front of it and just looked at it... But when I was studying under my 1st trainer he used to hit us with little sticks around pressurepoints or the muscles that if you squeeze them or hit them it sends a killer pain and he said we couldnt break our meditation because we had to let the pain go and when we used to spar with him when he hit us in the areas that he hit us under meditation it wouldnt hurt or hurt as bad.. So I think the sanctuary thing might be right
  2. I dont think we have them :-\ All I have around here is, Tiger Shulmans (blah!) Action Karate (hahaha) and American Karate Institute (please...) all regular tae kwon do, or tang soo do, blah....
  3. When I do goto meditate I do clear my mind, but the result is seeing that, and feeling that.
  4. When anyone is able to reach a point in meditation, can you recall things? Do you see things? I hear stories of people floating over their 'happy place', people get 'visions', people get tingly etc... etc... I personally see myself dressed in some sort of black gi (not sure which kind) walking up a path with torches lighting the way towards a temple with stone steps. I then stop and stand their and all I see is a black flame and then nothing other then a tingly feeling.. Am I doing something wrong? Is this possible for me to be in a meditative state while seeing these things and actully recalling them? The tingly feeling through my chest down flowing through my arms and out my hands really gets me though... I just wondering because now I read more and more posts here I feel that my old sensi did not really give me (or other students) the full explanation on everything
  5. I havent visited this school yet, though I plan to in the next week or so. Its a Shaolin-Kempo school. Anyone know any info on that style that they may not tell you on the webpages? Just wondering if its worth to take. Oh heres a website to the place. http://www.villari.net Does this seem like a good place to study for this style?
  6. yes there is a jujitsu school, though the guy charges a pretty penny (hes very good, supposebly he was taught by the gracies) and he only teaches student that he thinks are worthy.
  7. Not sure what I would do, possibly run like hel|, maybe a toe in the eye? j/k If he did not seem to much bigger then me then I would try to jam his shoot by tieing up his arms then going for a temple lock..
  8. "Walk away rather then argue; Argue rather then harm; Harm rather then maim; Maim rather then kill; Kill only as a last resort"
  9. Where I live there is a limited selection of schools. mostly tae kwon do, tang soo do, karate. I would like something more exotic. (ninjitsu) but anything relating to that would be good for me
  10. I used to know the name to a site for a search engine for martial arts. I dont have the link anymore, anyone know of this? Used to give all the styles taught, and all the schools in the world that teach them. It was very good, If I come across it I will post it here, unless anyone else knows what I am talking about and will post it
  11. Anyone ever hear of Combat Ki? I was watching discovery channel and they had something called 'Combat Ki' on. I only saw people getting a 4 directional punch into the throat, a lady getting kicked in the groin area, a lady getting a hard elbow to the chest. I these are deadly moves, and i read a little on ki. All I got out of it was a certain breathing technique Anyone have comments or info on this?
  12. yes, just like everyone else said. Get into condition your going to be training hard. Pushups, Situps, Running, even meditation (if you know how) will all help.. good luck
  13. I am not making this up, and a actual security guard from my school that was a former police officer said that to me. Fact or Fiction I am not sure. But I see where hes comming from walking into some guys house and seeing a guy sitting on the ground (meditating) then he jumps up out of no where into a kung fu stance (not sure which one). That probley did freak him out a little bit, but there was no reason for him to get shot. If this is true then this is a sick world we live in. You learn self defense to defend yourself, not to just sit there and take a beating. It is like giving a police officer a gun and saying dont use it ever. You know if someone is shooting at them, they are going to return fire. That is what we, martial artists do. we return the fire (with defending ourself)
  14. Another story from a cop I got into trouble at school for defending myself from another student. One of the security guards (former police officer) Told me that you have to give a warning that you know martial arts and you are a certain rank and continueing to fight you would be classified as suicide. Then he told me that I better watch myself Police Officers do not take any crap because he and a few other Officers went to arrest a Martial Artist while he was meditating and he jumped up into a Kung Fu stance and was shot on the spot. I know there is alot of debates on this but I figured I would let you all decide and post your opinions. True? False? I dont know but its freaky
  15. I believe this has happend many times before. I do not think any style is inferiorer
  16. Okies I read some other posts on ninjitsu and have come to the conclusion that most frown or laught at it. Im not looking to be stealth rogue freak or be some whacked out guy throwning a grappliing hook over someones roof or run around through shadows scareing people. I just heard there is good unity there and I like the training. I read on some site they have training camps for the summer that start at like 10,000-15,000 and that seemed umm a little steep? Any help appreciated..
  17. I do not have any proof besides some moves :-\ When we got belts there was no paper certification. I only know my first form ever and I do not even know the name of that. Its not that I want a B.B. just to 'show off' I dont think the belt makes the knowledge or anything, so starting over would not be the problem, only the money would. hehe.. I would love to take ninjitsu though if anyone knows of a school..
  18. I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few problems. I have mainly studied Tang Soo Do and held a BrownBelt going for my BlackBelt test. During that time I took a tournament class my sensi was holding. We learned a variety of arts. American Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Grappling, Pressure Points, and a bunch of throws. I had to leave the school for money purposes and I recently went back to try and start again but they left and no one has even heard of them (Korean Karate Academey). The only problem with taking the class he never told us what style we were learning, he would teach us the moves without the names of them. He would put us in a meditative states and hit us with a little wooden stick and train us from there. He never taught us the philosphy behind anything either. I then kept training with a few close friends to keep my knowledge of what I know. What I am getting at is I never got my blackbelt though I would like to get it. I dont remember most of my kata and I cant remember move names, I get the styles messed up - I cannot just use tang so do, i would end up useing grappling etc.. I only know how to perform in combat. What can I do!?
