  1. Well high there. It's nice to see a lot of people joining, I'm new but I'm just glad beacause now more people will be here. You should head over to comparative styles and to the rate your style thread.
  2. I'm pretty sure he means the ones you are practicing. I hope someone does shudokan so I can see how it rates.
  3. I'm actually going to go watch a tornument on the 8th. I should be able to see which kind I like better.
  4. Are calastenics like just lisfting your body weight? Like pushups, sit ups ect.? If they are I think that's a better way to do it. Because when you do it you get stronger, and you build mucle. When you build muscle you add more weight to the body weight your lifting, so there is always a challenge there. You can only become stronger doing this. Weight lifting you can only lift so much to gain so much muscle before you have to start taking different things, protein drinks ect. I think it's a lot more important to be able to support your own body weight. Myself I'm going to do a little bit of both, but mostly calstenics.
  5. http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/karate-wood.gif would this be a proper illustration of a reverse punch?
  6. Can someone post some sort of illistration of this? I want to see what it looks like.
  7. Please someone tell me that splits aren't a part of karate.
  8. Well if I have the basic kicks and stuff in I'm sure it won't be much of a problem. Most of the fights I have seen the kids can't even throw punches. I was also wondering if anyone might know. How fast do you think you will lose weight in karate? One of my reasons for joining was weight loss, and if I'm going to be practicing RUN-Do as submissionfighter so aptly put it I better lose some of my LARD-Do.
  9. There's a couple way of doing this. One is a little thing called the Hollywood DV bridge. It's a littley device that let's you take RCA, s-videdo all those outputs and put them onto your computer. I can't remember where to buy it, but I know you can search google. The other is a Radeon all in wonder. I'd try and search for the cheapest one you can find beacuase they're really expensive. Just hook the VCR up to either one of these. Transfer it to mpg onto the computer. I'm prettty sure I might be able to get some hosting space so if you can get it under 10 mb I can host it off a server of mine.
  10. ^ nah I'm way up in washington state. I'm going to buy Ki In Daily Life though is that a good booK?
  11. Yeah I just wante do to know some two things. How do I make a makiwara and do you recomend it for someone who is 14? And also what is Iron Palm, and where can I learn it.
  12. I meant haning. I went to karate-mart.com and they have a lot of the ones filled with water, I didn't want those because I thought it might break open too easily or something.
  13. You should definatley apply, and pass. My sister didn't pass her test a few times, so she had to wait an extra six months when she turned 16.
  14. I'm in Yakima, Washington
  15. Well I have two friends that I will be training with. So yeah I guess I will have friends in the dojo.
  16. Oh yeah what are the advantages disadvantages of a water core bag, I was thinking of getting one, but am araid I might bust it open.
  17. I need a place to buy a punching bag for real cheap, I'm gonna be strung just paying for the calss and my gi, not to mention the sparring gear.
  18. I think being able to break boards would be cool, and like that show on TLC where the guy was like getting hit the stomach with those, and getting sticks broken over their legs. Being able to endure that would be good.
  19. Yeah I'm gunna buy a punching bag.
  20. ^ Yeah I already planned on sparring with some friends of mine. One of them is a blue belt, the other is a 6th degree black belt.
  21. Well the dojo I'm planning on joining is 50 a month. It use to be 30. But the ASA(American Shudokan Association) must have needed more money from the dojo or something. It's an okay deal I guess.
  22. I'd go either jiu jitsu or aikido, i've heard aikido takes a long time to learn though.
  23. Well I rember when I was seven and my dad put me into karate. Basicly what we did was learn how to avoid fights, and evade fights. They did demostrations like the instructor mugging the assitant with a knife, it doesn't really teach them to fight. It just tells them how to avoid the fight.
  24. I REALLY DO NOT LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE TALK LIKE THIS AND MAKE RUNNIGN SENTECNES THAT KEEEP GOING ON FOREVER BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO SENSE OF PUNCTUATION
  25. ^ Lol, I can hit somewhat hard, I just wanted to know if I could count on my karte skills or something.
