Got my yellow belt
BKJ1216 replied to boxer's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Yeah because if you do, your yellow belt may turn into a brown belt. -
Well the only black blet I know didn't quit.
-
I'd probably buy some videos.
-
I though I might post this as some people ( I was) might be dieting on products with artifical sweetener, just be careful and check the back for aspartme.
-
*sigh* I'm talking about he pictures. You know the 360 degree images.

Well I never said I could beat a boxer in the first place. Think about it though, boxers spend all their time conditioning their upper body, I bet their knees must be really weak. If someone could get a kick in, which I'm sure someone in this world is competent of doing, then it woudl really weaken the boxers footwork.
-
Well I've noticed that the way the arm and the angle of the foot differs from a lot of the styles presented on that site.
-
it dosn't have the goju-ryu version of Zenkutsu-Dachi
-
Yeah but it does not have shudokan, or goju-ryu for that matter.
-
In the phonebook it says division of Pro-Action sports, I already checked to make sure they were connected.

NinjaMaster I don't mean to be mean, but are you having trouble with your caps lock key?
-
Hello. I don't know you but you asked if there was any good threads going around. Theres tons, I'd look in the Comparative arts forum.

as far as the original post, karate "can" be a good self defense stytem the problem is today you will proabably find a school that dosent do a good job. unless it's a full contact style like Kyokoshin i belive there are better ways to learn street self defense, if thats what you looking for Krav Maga would get the job done. shoduln't all dojos do contact sparring though? I know that I orignally though mine didn't, I called him back and he said that most do, but at his I'd have to pay a fee and sign a relese.

Ahh they gonna re-do that marathong. -
But I'm really not a fan of boxing. That's why I decided to take karate. Had I given it a little more though, I might've done something else then karate. But that's what I took to begin with. The reason I don't like boxing is simply because there is no leg defense, or techniques. It's like just a completley unused factor of your body. I guess that's fine though sense now that kickboxing has come along it shoudl spark the revolution where some master of boxing re-creates the system.

You are contadicting yourself from post to post. Before making statements about something you don't know, please try to achieve some knowledge. It's boring and annoying to have to deal with so many posts made by peopla that are assuming things and present their thoughts as general rules. It's a forum for information not desinformation Good luck in your attempt to become a martial artist lol your talking to me about contradicting my post

Alright well intresting little discovery I made today. I was reading the book I checked out of the library called "The Original Martial Arts Encyclopedia". I looked at the back of the book for some unreacallable reason and saw this at the bottom. http://www.tectonic.cjb.net/mcdojo.jpg Oddly enough the dojo in my town that teaches goju is called "Pro-Action Family Martial Arts". Now current happenings with the chife instructor at this schoool i.e. refusing to give me a price, and this have lead me to the belife that this is a "McDojo" as some would put. What do you guys think about?
-
does Karate spar with leg kicks? do you use shin blocks/aka leg defenses? i know some stlyes do but i was under the impression most do not. Well it's just, it's not a complete martial art. I'm sure it could beat a lot of arts. But If you're even half good fighter, you would try to exploit their legs, and depending on what art you study you will probably be sucessful. I do think karate is useful for self defense though, simply because the average person who is going to be messing around with you wont' be trained.
-
Jeeze JJF how many arts are you trained in? Or have you trained in?

Trouser Pain
BKJ1216 replied to AnonymousCoward's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I don't know, if they're gettin' the legs up that high I would guess they got special jeans on that allow for greater mobility. -
Umn you might want to look up when your typing for now on. Anyway, the only reason I think a boxer woudl lose, ise because he has no leg defense.
-
Yeah karate can both be not helpful, and be helpful. Karate is definatley better than boxing for self defense, not saying that any karate person could beat a boxer, but boxing probably takes a lot more to be good enough to defend yourself real good with. Anyway karate shoudl be fine for street defense. It might not be the best when fithing other MAs, but it will get the job done.
