  1. Yeah I don`t like fighting either. I love to try my strategys against other styles though to. I started my early martial arts training (when I was about 7), because of my parents. They forced me, because I kept beating up the other children in my school. Since then I have totally changed in my attitude. I respect other people and only train for the techniques/perfection of the techniques and to reach a very high level.
  2. I was wondering why you guys initially started doing martial arts. I guess the motivations have changed during your training, but letting us know your initial motivation would be quite cool.
  3. i wanted the wing chun writing on my shoulder.I thought it might be a bit wannabe though, because i am not very far in wing chun.
  4. What may be of interest for you is that Ki Aikido was invented in Hawaii.
  5. i am a southpaw. But my stance depends with what side my enemy prefeers to attack.
  6. hmm my knowledge is about a 2-3. my fighting abilities are 5-7. I have a long way to go.
  7. i have to agree with tommarker. it`s not only WHAT you say, it`s much more HOW you say it. I think it is quite interesting how many martial arts teach different things to prevent fights. But all of them have one thing in common. They all want preventation to be done in a confident and direct manner.
  8. Hello Guys Since I had a fight a couple of weeks ago against a bunch of people, I thought I should think about what I did wrong. Now, I have found a problem. The problem is that I think that lots of dojos teach the student to be defensive in a verbal way and say things like:"whats the matter?" or "I don`t want to fight".I did the same but still got in a fight. I think it would have been more effective if I would have slapped the biggest guy and say things like:"If you want to fight, then come get some!" or something like that. That would have been much more intimidating. So, I think that this defensive attitude as taught alot in styles like Wing Tsun or Aikido does not prevent fights.I even think that it starts them even more, because the agressor thinks you are scared. What do you guys think? (Sorry for my * english right now, but its nearly 3 am here in Germany )
  9. i train for good six hours a week wing chun and every second day i do weightlifting, forms and stretching in my cellar.
  10. i am going for my third student degree this friday in wing chun. I trained only at home in the last month and I am not sure how I will do. But I think i can make it I am always so nervous during the grade tests.when i do forms you can see my arms shaking, because we do them kinda slow.
  11. i know of a capoeria fighter to and he has got a very muscular body. but he does not lift weights, he just got it through his training & sit ups.
  12. overall combat abilities 6 or 7. but in my wing chun abilities i would say 4 or 5.
  13. thats true I have got a real training mentality through the fight.I train in every situation now.
  14. Thats what I will do. The good thing in Germany is that even in poor places hardly anyone has a gun.I do not think though that passivity will be a successful option with those wannabe thugs. But I need to protect my Girlfriend and if I am honest prove something to myself. If I think about it, it was more likely the first possible reason you listed up white warlock
  15. good ideas, thanks guys. I will try out every idea you guys posted and I will wait and see what happens.
  16. My Girlfriend lives near the house where they live. I will have to go there with my friend who is a MA to and settle things properly now. I dont want to take any risk and have my girlfriend injured or even worse.
  17. getting over it is the hardest part.
  18. i mean that it ranges from catching flying objects and gets to the point of drawing or writing things on paper. Its just my motor skills overall that are quite bad.
  19. hmm i visit the south east of england quite a bit. Pheraps I will pay the dojo a visit and see how the training is
  20. thanks guys. i think it was 3,4,5 together. yeah i am much to defensive in general. I started to think about me since that incident and noticed that I am much to defensive in loads of situations in live. My attitude is much to submissive. Now I am happy this happened, because now I can grow and get a more offensive attitude.Pheraps my submissive fear could turn into offencive agression next time.Well anyway, as I said, I will not be submissve anymore! White Warlock, No, I did not pick the fight. They came up to us and started to throw things at us and they wanted to hit my girlfriend. I hate fights.
  21. i had a fight against 7 people in a tram two nights ago. at the beginning i had a adrenaline rush with fear which made me not use my training and fear was stopping me doing proper things.after some time when i got behind them in the tram to get a clear mind, i was still very frightend but started to remember my training.but right at that moment one of them said that the police where coming.damn i didnt loose or anything but i was so full of fear which made me really defensive and through that i couldnt show my true skill.this was infront of my girlfriend.although i didnt loose as i said, my pride is broken because i was to scared to properly show my skill.do u guys think i should give up martial arts and forget?i dont know what to do
