Im a 9th Kyu Orange belt in Shotokan soon to be high Orange or Green belt

I prefer Shotokan its the best okinawan karate ever and its used world wide 2nd ill prefer kenpo karate its very fast and useful

When I was at the gym I meet this 2 guys one was wearing a T shirt with the Shotokan logo that said Way of japan and the other 1 wearing regular T shirt after that we became friends after 4 years i found on that they are my nephews instructor so I joined and they are my sensies in Shotokan how amazing isit. Also when I was in college I meet this guys who work at school and he became my classmate he turn out he knows Karate Tai chi and Eskrima and we became best of friend since his 45 now and im 35 and him and I are still best friend to this day

IN were I live mostly Shotokan and Goju ryu and bunch of other Martial arts

A good martial Artist is a Martial Artist that knows the knowledge of his art and must be focused and Have that martial arts spirit or Karate Spirit and must be motivated at all times and also his technique and Forms are perfect and also must be humble

IN my DOjo everybody is friends with the sensies senpais and kohai and karatekas were like one big happy family What is a Instructor that is not friends with their student that is call big ego just because your an instructor your not friends with your students that is not right

Egos need to be put on Aside Because its Not a good Some karatekas's are like that once they get to higher belt they think they all that it is not right everybody has to be the same My Sensie Abe told me that long time ago when his student became a black belt they begun to separate from our dojo and build their own dojo and some of them have big egos there are only 9 black belts and mostly only 5 compete or only 3 goes to the dojo and trained for me When i get to black belt I will stay to that dojo and teach and I make sure my student have no big ego there is no better than the other ones were all the same and if your ego comes dont go to my class you think your better but theres a person more better than you so ya keep the ego aside and make all everybody equal

Hi guys My Name is Mike aka ShotokanMaster The Style that I do is Shotokan karate Do I'm Originally from Oxnard Cali now living in Bakersfield Ca and IM a filipino My Hobbies are Karate Djng Biking just chillan hanging out with family Since I joined Shotokan my whole life change Big time I learn more about the shotokan arts and my self Confidence excelled and also I THank god christ and my mom and dad from heaven that they always giving me strength and every competition that i go I always win 1st place this is my 4th time being on 1st place at a karate Tournament

For me i started Taekwondo but I only finish yellow belt because my dad got sick and then when i was at college I meet a friend who teach me Eskrima taichi and chigung and then when I came here to Bakersfield I did Shotokan and im gonna stick with Shotokan and when i enter shotokan i pick up quick because i took diff kind of martial arts

I did Heian shodan as my kata I been doing that in all my competition im only a orange belt and my category is mens beginners kata

MY family would always say its better to walk away into the fight then being hurt or being injured or you can call it flight hehehe but on the other hand you need to fight too because some people are just plain old hard headed you are already walking away and he chase ya and want to fight ya or he corners you again you need to defend your self no matter what size if you really need to used your Martial arts skills go ahead used it but its better to walk away

To all my Fellow karatekas around the world wish me luck on 23rd of february our dojo Way of Japan is hosting a karate tournament next week saturday and I wana be 1st place on the tournament this next week saturday pray for me and i hope i get 1st place

I was competing in kata we was 4 of us 1 purple 1 green one orange belt and me

WE always wear the traditional white Gi and we buy our patches but sometimes when your a instructor you get to wear black GI Pants

I dont think so we need to think when were doing our kata when your doing a kata you should already know the next step without thinking about it because you have to go with the flow you know in competition you dont think when its your time to perform the kata for your competition because if ya think your mine will go blank and you will forgot all the moves

well i go to class 4 times a week sometimes 3 depending if im not going anywhere and i go to Intermediate and advance classes and i train at home atleast 7 days a week about 45 min to 1 hour

MY favorite kata is Bassai dai Unsu Heain shodan Nidan and godan Tekki Shodan and bunch more

2013 Martial Arts Goals are 1st stay healthy eat right and stop my High BP 2 get my green belt this year 3 get 1st place in every tournament that i have and get 1st place medal trophy or plaque because i have won 1st place in all of my 3 tournaments that i have a 4 practice a lot like 5 times or 3 times a week and prepare for my belt testing this coming year

Chief Instructor are the Master instructor of the whole dojo he or she is the one its called shihan like 7th to 10th dan and he observes the sensies teaching and when his needed he comes in to teach the whole class and he has over 50 year experience Sensie is the head instructor he or she teaches the senpais the kohais and the whole karatekas he is the one who shout loud and tell ya what to do and also to challenge you to do better in karate class and they are 5th dan and has 30 years of experience Senpai are 1st dan to 3rd dan instructor and they are needed when the sensie is not there they are the one who teaches the kohais and the karatekas and he or she tells them what to do if the sensie is not there The Kohai Kohai are like the Junior or 2nd from the senpai and their like karate prodigy they are from white to brown belt and they are the one who listens to the shihan Sensie and Senpais and they look up to them and to be one of them someday. Karateka are the one who does karate and a beginner at karate 1st time experience 1st time in a karate class

I love learning new kata specially the advance kata I enjoy it i love it we just learn Bassai Dai 2 days ago and it was awesome I memorized the whole thing with in 3 days but its hard at 1st and its not easy The only way A new kata will be Easy for you is to follow your sensie and what his doing and he will explain step by step on how to do it he will correct ya if your doing the step wrong or the form wrong just be focused dont dread the kata love it

I was Bullied Through my whole life I was Born with a learning disability and kids and adult Pick on me so I started Martial Arts and it was worth it I started doing Taekwondo I became a yellow belt then I stop it was 1996 and I stop because my dad got sick But when I come to Bakersfield I meet this 2 guys at the gym one was wearing A Shotokan Shirt and the other 1 was wearing regular clothes their name was Jason and mark it was 2006 then 2011 I came back To Bakersfield and my nephew was enrolled to This Karate school called Way of Japan Shotokan Karate do and i was like wow So I ask my bro who was the Instructor and he said Jason ______ and i was like wow i know that guy he was my friend at the gym and he was the instructor so that's My story I started doing Shotokan karate do im 35 years old now and im a orange belt soon to be green belt and my nephew is a green belt its never to late to joined any martial arts class and age don't matter.
