Does anyone know any good stretching sites?
Mr Heel Hook replied to Mr Heel Hook's topic in Health and Fitness
Ah yes, my beloved gooooogle. Thank you. -
I, like most MA type people, am trying to improve my flexibility. Does anyone know of any good sites I can read this stuff on? Any help at all would be very welcomed. Might even make me your best friend!

Now now. I have been in many a fight and never once has someone tried to rip me groin apart with his bare teeth. -

All this bitting and groin grabbing. Remind me to steer clear of you guys. Whatever happened to an honorable match...yeeesh! -
UFC, TKD vs Jiu-Jitsu
Mr Heel Hook replied to TKD_McGee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I just think it's funny how people think Jiu Jitsu fighters (such as myself. I study Gracie Jiu Jitsu) have no ability to face more then one person. Kickchicks example, though partially true, shows how...ignorant (no disrespect, you know I love you! )...people are about BJJ in stand up confrontations. BJJ is not ALWAYS meant to go to the ground. Who would want to do so when facing more then one person? No, there are "moves" (if you want to term them as such) to control and harm people viscously while in a stand up position so you can have the time to run away. I dunno, I just think it's funny how some people class BJJ so incorrectly. Especially that...person...from the Royce-Yoshida fight. -
Pretty much what Jiu Jitsu Fighter said. If you can't do that, then just wait it out (if I am getting the picture right) let him waist his energy with squeezing you. It kinda sounds ridiculous to me that he would try and submit you in such. However, I don't mean just sit there the whole time and do nothing. You should keep a hand posted on his thigh ready to push him off and yourself out. I dunno, the whole thing seems a bit silly. How do you end up there in the first place?

I realize, this isn't an extravagant answer...but...get him back in my guard. -
...Try?....TRY!? Fool! Because you have managed to endear yourself to me does NOT mean you have some sort of impunity to my wrath! My fury will cause your punishment to be measured astronomical levels if you ever jeopardize your health in such ways again. But seriously, Kickchick, my dear long lost friend who lives in an igloo (Or so I guess) please be careful. Those products should not be mingled with any kind of heart condition no matter how little you might deem them. SO DO AS I SAY AND STOP!!! ...I wonder if they fell for me being some kind of omnipotent godlike creature. I mean, after all, who would want to disobey a celestial being and whatnot? Hopefully they didn't read this far cause I always type what I am thinking. Geez, I did it again...gEh!...again...Oh God, it's like a curse...I typed that too!...I better just send this thing. OK, now click the left mouse button...STOP TYP...

gEH!? You have cardiac issues and you used anything...EVER... with ephedrine in it!? Geez, Kickchick! I could wring your neck for that!

In truth it has only happened to me twice. Both times I challenged them to prove me wrong in which they failed. Both times I walked away "proving" my point but being a little bit annoyed by it. I didn't like that I was asked to show something and then only told I was wrong and it wouldn't work. Why ask at all then? But I suppose some people just need to be proven wrong. But in truth, there is no such thing as a perfect scenario which is what most of those types of people forget. "OK, so if you do that, I'll just do this." "Then I will do this in response to you." "Well, if you do that then, I could to this." It goes on. There is no such thing as a scripted situation. Techniques happen many times because you lull or bait people into certain precarious positions. Submission is a chess match; each person counters, or tries to, to gain an advantage on their opponent. Perhaps that needed to be explained if he/she was going to throw in other variables. A response brings a counter response -- and so on. If something doesn't work, it doesn't mean it is void and has no place...it just means it didn't work that time so you move onto something else. Technique makes the whole. Not just a "move" or two. OK, well I am getting myself worked into a rant about ignorance in these situations. It's almost as bad as when someone goes on and ON righteously about things when they haven't seen the whole event...or something like that. I just don't like know-it-alls and their kin. Stop, listen, and absorb. It's what makes you grow. <---I don't know Karate. I just think this dude is cool.

That's a shame. Well, no worry about that with me. I am almost stupidly friendly (yet so stubborn!!!) and am always looking to have a good time with some bantering and the whatnot. After all, I am the funniest man I know...and funniest most people know...sometimes they just seem to forget that. Well, at least that's what I am guessing the cause is. Aside from that, no harm no foul. I hope to speak with you again soon. Oh wait, Kickchick, I have been meaning to ask you if you are following me, or is it just me? Some people call me paranoid I like to call it observant.

I was just playing again. I know you weren't...although since it's been a few days since you have touched this post I was starting to think: "maybe she was "attacking" me" So uh, to straighten it out, both my post (save the ephedra comments. I think it is TERRIBLE for you) were really my lame attempts at jesting a bit with you. I guess you can't hear the taunting tone of voice in my mind as I type...and I thought you were psychic...or maybe I am a bit stupid. Oh ( to clarify once again so you don't end up hating me and we don't have to battle to the death, or at least a sweat) did you go to school for such things, or are you just very knowledgeable? You certainly know your stuff.

Hmmm...I am not sure how to respond to that...the questioning my veracity and whatnot. I'll respond by not responding. As for the Redbull thing...it was partially a joke (note the face, most people know Redbull is a joke like most of these new things that come out). Do you just read up on these things, or did you go to school for it? (not an attack on you unlike you did me, I am just curious)

It's bad and shunned from us in the medical community. The stress it does to your heart will only lead to problems in the long run. That's all I have to say. Your heart isn't meant to pump like that when you are not doing anything, never mind when you are working out. No strokes for me, thanks. You want something good for energy, drink a Red Bull.

Which Do you think Is Better?

Pride. The amount of fighters makes it better. -
Development of Wrestling
Mr Heel Hook replied to Ali's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Well, yeah it's not what it use to be. The WWE (Its not WWF anymore) is like you said...just entertainment. I remember watching a documentary about wrestlers from that era. Really impressive stuff. Some matches took 2 hours to complete. Not very exciting...true, but still impressive in its own way. Good luck, my friend! -

http://www.themat.com/newusaw/database/showfaq.asp?fldAuto=15 I just threw that on there real quickly. I hope it helps some. -
I wouldn't if I was you. And yes, Royce does wear a single weave but would do so in sport jiu Jitsu. I have actually spoken a bit to him about it. The reason I wouldn't has nothing to do with if it will tear or not, but to do with someone can get a handful of your Gi. A single weave, you can actually grab both lapels in one hand. In my opinion, it is a bad handicap and I myself have taken advantage of it several times. It's not a matter of if it will tear or not, it's just much easier to use against someone. It certainly isn't a marketing ploy. There is a distinct advantage in it. Grabbing my Gi is a very hard thing to do because of how it's made. So I say again: Bad Idea, you can be controlled with it too easily.

To GI or not to GI?
Mr Heel Hook replied to Mr Heel Hook's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
My quick thoughts on it are: I think Gi training is very very important because it teaches you far better balance then when you don't have a gi. Why? Because there are many more ways to sweep someone who has a GI on, so training in this more "hazardous" state makes you better all around. I think training with GI is far more important then most people realize. It, like said a moment ago, will improve you on so many different levels. I dunno, just a short blurp while I see what more people think. KickChick, are you following me? -
Tito Ortiz the best fighter ever?? The heck are you talking about? He is agreat fighter, but still not A class. So what, he beat up shamrock who is old and isn't that great in my opinion. No, he hasn't been tested well enough yet to fight the likes of MINOTAURO (sorry, his name is cool) or Inoue...Gracies...etc.etc.etc....There is no denying he is good, maybe great...but far from the best. The thing I hate though he is SOOOOO ARROGANT, but time after time, to my dismay, he has proven himself to be *almost* as good as he blabs. Who knows? Maybe someday I'll like him. Until then... "Tito Ortiz is a punk." "Tito Ortiz is a punk." "Tito Ortiz is a punk."

Is the UFC Just Becoming Entertainment
Mr Heel Hook replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Yeah, the UFC is worse now, but at the same time it is a bit better. I dunno... -
Wha...what did you say? You don't know...don't know what DDR is? I am not sure we can speak anymore...I feel strangly offended. Just KIDDIN! DDR: Dance Dance Revolution. More or less it is a dance video game that is very fun and strangly addictive. You can go to DDRfreak.com for more info. Aside from the banter, it is a very fun way to work out. People who are like 5 to 40+ house moms will stop and play it. AND LOVE IT TOO! Check it out!
