Shotokan_Fighter Said: If you don't care then why would you post a topic like this where people are obviously going to disagree with some of the things you say? Shotokan_Fighter Said: How do you know your 'fast' and 'strong' if you have never compared with other styles who may or may not be 'faster' and 'stronger' ? I believe the record for most punches is held by a wing chun practisioner of 8.6 punches per second. Are you that fast?

None of those would fare well. Why? becuase they are just names of styles. Not everyone in each of them styles are at the same skill level. Not everyone from those styles will have some natural athletic ability.

hard styles vs. soft styles
cross replied to Shotokan_Fighter's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
In karate some techniques that you think are hard, and that look hard in basic training can sometimes be performed in a "softer" way with the same effectiveness. -
training?

Give it a go anyway. You will soon find out if you like it or not. -
Well broomhilda000, maybe you can help sansoouser out with his question.

Thats true. And the females always think they need to "beat" the males no matter what rank they are. Although i don't think hitting girls good, in sparring a well timed foot sweap might make them think twice about having such a bit ego.
-
It also depends on the status of the instructor. If they are well known publically they may change alot more for you to train with them. (like some of those damn gracies hehehe).
-
Yeah i think i might be the same GrrrArg. I get hit it the head/face a far bit most times not full-contact. But one time i got kicked in the face with a round house kick full contact and it just made my eye water. ( i had a nice shinner afterwards hehehe).

Thats quiet true Curare. Krav Maga is a very modern and realistic fighting method. It seems to work for the israel military.

Any style that has techniques like groin strikes, eye gouges and bone breakification ( ok i made that word up, but you know what i mean).

Go to some schools in your area and see what you like.
-
I would meet with the instructors of each school and view a class then decide.

Australia = $8.00 per 2 hour lesson.

Remember to try and throw your whole body up then forward.... and if you can't get up the first few times use your elbow to help you (its ok to cheat somethimes) then once you learn the movements its not that difficult.

Spar = Good im surprised that some people (2 so far) said no. But everyone to their own.

hard styles vs. soft styles
cross replied to Shotokan_Fighter's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Hard style V. Soft style black hair V. Blonde Hair Man V. Women Differences are the way the techniques look and the training methods and the fight mentality and the philosphies and the concepts behind techniques... In the end its just punching a kicking -
TOP UN ARMED MARTIAL ARTS I CAN THINK OF
cross replied to MuayThai Fighter's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I voted MMA, simply becuase I believe the best style is the one that works for the person. If you train a certain style you shouldn't be and arn't limited to using only the techniques from that art. If you like something from another then you take it and use it. Although you still claim to train in one style.
