Hi all, The subject of this topic is about mind being over matter. Do you believe in the saying Personally i do. being able to visualise your tactics before you apply them is a skill in itself. Being able to see what to do and how you are going to do it. But this is not approachable or useable in all situations. This is why martial arts is used and practised to build up a higher mental knowledge and a better range of plans for the martial arts student. Put it this way The more the student knows, the better he can think about applying the technique and transforming it for different situations. I would like to hear your views on 'Mind over Matter' in martial arts. Thankyou

Hi All, In training do you make your throws into winding throws for efficiency? I am trying to get the skills to be able to because from what i have seen it is better for applying and using locks and holds on the ground to your opponent. Does anyone have experience with locks and holds after using winding throws who wants to offer advice or an opinion. Thanx

Thanx everyone - I sure hope so! I arent worried about getting the techniques spot on, as i am awarded marks for plain use of atemi when not sure of a lock or throw. But i am worried about the pressure put on me, i have to grade along with my brother in front of a class of about 40 students, all higher grades than myself! Pressure sucks rotten eggs! Thankyou all for your support! I really appreciate it! -

Thanx I wont bothere asking for help again when it comes to ju jitsu - how am i spposed to know or remember the art which i train when the sensei doesnt tell us or drill it into our heads - we go and pay to learn the techniques and everything else, not the full fledged history of it! It is taught to be effective in situations where it is needed, not as another school course. Thankyou -

Kensai - i alike many other people are looking for guidance and help - is this a great sin, next time you ask for help shall i slate u down and call u lazy? -
Adidas have commercially released into sports shops some martial arts training shoes - but in the form of triners, sure they look like trainers, but they are really martial arts shoes! Also very stylish!

isnt atemi - ryu to strike vital areas to cause damage or something Kensai - please tone down the content of your posts, you come off as offensive to me - i come on here to seek guidance and help in a field where i know not a lot and all you do is kick me back down, and use your "superior" knowledge to overpower me. -

well - this is the website http://www.dansanjoe.freeserve.co.uk I have got it in my mind that it is aiki-jutsu, but i arent sure as they dont talk about it a lot, they just show us the techniques and their purpose - and when they would come in handy! -

in reply to Kensai - I am only repeating what i have been told and/or learnt from websites being forwarded to me by members of these forums. I wish not to get into a debate - and the comment about laernbing about my art was not necessary, as that message was put across in different words in what you said about Master Takeda and AikiJutsu being developed before Shotokan Karate and Judo. I know about the art enough to know that i enjhoy it sand would like to continue training in it. Thankyou for the advice Bon - since it is my first grading i expect it to be nerve racking a little as it is different from shotokan karate of which i have graded in in the past. I thankyou all for your comments, and your input is and will be greatly appreciated and looked upon. *** And also to add to the post, are you saying that because aiki-jutsu was developed before shotokan and aikido that aikido and shotokan are copied from that art, I think now my martial arts friend - just because it was formed first does not mean that other arts do not contain some of the same characteristics. Thanx -
Hi all, I have my first ever ju jitsu grading in two weeks and i am very nervous - i find it hard to practise at home at the moment because the garden is drenched (waterlogged) and i don't have any matts, also i do not have any supervision from ju jitsu coaches when using and applying techniques with my brother. I fancied practising breakfalls. Anyway -wish me luck please. Any help or advice would be very very much appreciated! Thankyou
