  9. HI all, I know a bit about cpomputers and i will be here to offer handy tips and help to people who want or need it, i might not know enough to help but i can sure try. Part One If you have Windows 2000 NT pro installed on your computer and you access the internet through this computer, you may want to take into consideration two things. A Firewall Usually the best one is Zone Alarm Pro, try and download the trial version but for the good one buy the full version, it isnt too expensive. And Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 This is also for security, and it optimises the files on your computer for higher speed while accessing files on the computer and also downloading webpages. It also closes automatically some of the opened ports on your computer which dont need to be open. Hackers access computers through open ports. Also make sure that if you download from a site or download a plugin - do not check the box saying 'Always trust content from.....'. This is a bad move - as some pirate software crackers and hackers make software which is used to see your computer - e.g subse7en trojans are masked with names such as MSN corporation and Macromedia Inc, it is hacking and illegal. If you check that box you are saying that if you enter a site which has that hacking software or subse7en built in that it can automatically install its way into your computer and it may later on cause you major problems. Thanx for your time!

  11. I am still in high school in the UK and am onto my last year - unless i stay in for sixth form education which i am not sure of yet. At the moment my interests are english lit and lang and also IT and design. I hope to go to university to study computer science and law, both areas interest me - and in college i wish to do english lit and lang A levels and also a graphic design course. If anyone here goes to a college in the UK i would be happy if they could explain what life is like in college after high school. thanks
  12. Hi Tobias, At school i am taking a GNVQ - which is the same thing but on a different level. for example you are doing field work as part (majority) of your VQ - where as a lot of my work is done inside school. There are three different levels of VQ Part One Part Two Part Three Part Three is the one to go for - it is a higher qualification than Part One. I believe that the benefits entailed in VQ's are an extended and a preliminary understanding of life at work and life in a workplace - and also being taught how to do your job correctly rather than going to work without a clue - or making mistakes. I am not implying that mistakes arent to be made - but if they are made in VQ's it is not without learning from them majorly. The disadvantages of VQ's is that you spend less time learning full time and more time working. This can be a let down to some VQ candidates, but they are mainly the ones who take the course/s without knowing a lot about them. Just my two cents Thanx
  13. Exactly right ZR440 - you said just what our sensei said in class a couple of weeks ago! ALWAYS STAY IN CONTROL!
  14. In my opinion, the art of fighting without fighting is being able to out think your opponent to an extent where you are able to avoid any attack no matter what it is - without attacking or defending from any attacks. Basically it is preliminary body evasion and also being able to use words as weapons - not as an insult, just to make your enemy ralise where the line is!
  15. I would give you the link but the website which shows it (what i know of) the section with it is down at the moment. here is the link https://www.ultimatejujitsu.com thanx
  16. the armbar i am farmiliar with is the one where your right arm wraps around the arm of your opponent and pushed on the rib cage of your opponent, while kneeling on his lower torso and back of his neck!
  17. I havent been taught a clothesline properly yet - i can only perform one from observations and improvisations which isnt enough to go by to make it effective.
  18. I chose no This is because i believe that what a person wears can reflect how comfortable they are with their environment. The more comfortable you are with your environment the better your performance. Just my two cents Thanx
  19. I believe that only when your mind is disciplined then you are able to train and execute techniques to the best of your ability. Although i have just contradicted myself, you can never perform your best - you can for the moment - but you cannot thereafter. There is always room for improvement, this stems from the mental side of martial arts - if you believe and think things through - then you can execute moves with accuracy and power.
  20. yep - that is what we do also - for example a hip throw while turning - into a arm bar glad we understand eachother
  21. It is a throw which instead of just applying a straight forward throw - ir brings your opponent round and in front of you in a turning motion, so you can do a number of techniques and locks with much more ease! Hope this helps!
  22. Yes - if u feel u need to use it all the time to allow optimum performance of techniques (not forms ofcourse) then use them all the time.
  23. I believe in kiai'ng whenever possible Kiai represents 'Spirit Shout' To kiai is to show a strong and understod use of spirit and power. Also kimae is at the heart of a proper kiai. When practising i kiai wherever i can - the louder and stronger the kiai the more powerful the technique shall become. Also kiai can be used to control your strengths and weaknesses, Kiai's can be limited (for example in kata's) to techniques after a set number - or on a certain technique in a pattern.
  24. I agree Pain in some respects can be psychoschemtaical (brought on by your sight and the mind) If you believe you are not in pain - eventually the pain will go. This is how you are able to train your mind for readiness and for optimum use and ability in combat. Also if you can use your mind to such an extent - your skills and stamina in competition and/or in the streets is increased.
  25. very inspirational post I agree with you though, martial arts is for me a subject in life which is able to broaden your horizons and make you more aware of your physical and also mental limitations. martial arts does not only train the mind, but also the body - but ask yourself this - can your body work without the mind?
