maybe you guys shouldn't wash your gi either. There's plenty of hard work and effort soaked into those at the end of a session. I train in a style that does not have a belt fetish that alot of other martial arts have. I don't really think the symbol is all that important and you should wash it if it is dirty. I don't even wear my sash due to the invention of drawstring sweats.

Frayed and Worn Belts...A sign of experience(With a razor?)
rb replied to Afro.Fighter.'s topic in Karate
At the end of a workout my shirt is soaked with sweat, my hair is messed up, and I have red marks on my body from impacts. Occasionally there is even blood on my clothes. By your defininition a lot of people would not be martial artists. I'd equate the artificial aging to using your dinner fork to eat your salad. Not quite right but not a big deal . -
the number trick is a fairly common middle school problem.

could you give some examples ?

I've trained on the 220, very nice firearm. That being said, I still find it surprising that americans can easily access pistols and assult rifles designed for police or military use. Of course all guns can be lethal when improperly used.

Definitely my prefered method -
Okay I'll bite. We break at our club and I still don't think it's very useful. Aside from wrecking patio stones and making firewood...

Is this an ad? I've seen the trailers and I think this stands to be one of Li's worst movies. -
Actually you are the individual that suggested it. Be aware that all cma are considered boxing styles.

Yep, you heard me. I said "boxing skills".

Bruce Lee was hardly the first Chinese person to teach westerners boxing skills.

How is breaking most important to you
rb replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Breaking should not hurt. I would rexamine your techniques as well. Note conditioning is a very long and systematic process, be sure you know what you are doing when you go about doing this. -
Perhaps this is not your intent, but I find this blanket statement to either give TKD too much credit or other martial arts too little. Aside from some variations on hand positions and occasionally the foot, the core kicks from art to art are executed the same. These are fundemental body mechanics that all arts have preserved.

hmmm. If you're going to leave out all those fancy aerials then most stand up martial arts have the same kicks.

If she is impressed by martial arts then I don't think she is the one for me. -

I had to go with other. Although I find breaking to be fun I don't think it's overly useful. -

Bwahh haa haaa Here's another one that's been around for a while. Wouldn't recommend it for kids. http://www.realultimatepower.net/

Shotochem, I've been around for all the stuff you've described. My parents were alive for the begining of the space race and the cold war. I agree that the world is not always a great place, however I choose to react differently. This thread never was about scientific issues.

ShotoChem I find your attitude equally disturbing

How hard is it to break three boards at once?
rb replied to kchenault's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Thanks Sai, that's what I thought. I just wanted to be sure he wasn't breaking harder woods. kchenault While I don't think any old person can walk up off the street and triple break pine boards (consistently), the difficulty is not that high for a person training in martial arts. I have found hand techniques and regular kicks alot easier than aerial kick breaks. Headbutt is an easy single break. It appears crude and brutish which you could contrast with your aerial. -
