For traditional weapons i'd have to say either the Katana, the Dao, or the Jian. For normal i'd say a pocket knife, standard folding blade.

So i had been in my class for about just a little bit and me and one of my friends, i think we were new yellowbelts at the time were sparing with one of the second degree blackbelts in class 2-1. When he took my friend down and started fighting with him he had his back to me and i decided it would be the perfect opertunity to take him by surprise, unfortunately for me, i forgot there were mirrors and he looked up and backkicked my straight in the chest. My legs kept going and the rest of my stopped dead and i landed on the floor straight as a board, good times.

Hi, i was just wondering what you guys think about Chi Knockouts that people like George Dillman claim to do? Personally i think they're bogus but i'd like to hear your opinions on them and any evidence you have for them. Thanks.

I don't actually know what to fill a heavy bag with, but i've heard that sand will harden at the bottom, beans rice may be a good bet though. I was wondering if anyone knows what i should fill a standing bag with?

A boxing question
ryukasagi replied to Shotokan-kez's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I took some boxing for a while and really liked it, you could give it a try, where i took it from most people were really laid back and it was a fun all around environment, i also learned a lot and it helped me with my hands in other arts. You could just try it once and if you don't like it then don't go back. -
In my art we replaced the Kiais with forcefull breathing. It basically does the same thing and so we replaced it. I have also found that exhaling when getting hit reduces the pain from getting hit. And exhaling when hitting speeds me up and gives me more power.

we generally spar pretty hard with only gloves, gives it a little more realism. I think sparring is really important to give a more realistic view of a fight.

Maybe practice it in private... thats what i do with my escrima sticks.

Found...one hit, one kill...
ryukasagi replied to Bushido-Ruach's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think it's basically the same concept of doing CPR on someone who doesn't need it, which i've heard can kill them, but i think you'd have to do it a lot more than once to actually kill someone. I've taken plenty of hard hits to the chest and haven't died yet (at least i don't think i'm dead) so i don't think it would really work. -
my personal defense against a blade would probally be running away screaming. But if that's not an option i would keep my hands up and all my arteries in so it would be harder to cut them. also finding a weapon would be high on my priorty list.
