  1. Well, dude, I've been to that site before. All that flashy stuff is amazing, and all, but it is so much easier said than done.
  2. Sorry, there's nothing of the sort around this miserable town. Maybe I'll have to wait until I'm settled into college. However, I'm pleased to report that my job in the local supermarket is comming along nicely. It's work, but I don't hate it either.
  3. Thanks for the reply. Yeah... I'm a bit concerned about the fact that I can't seem to find any better instruments - electronic ones can still cost money - and downloaded free VST plugins are usually crap.
  4. Look like some dudes who really know their techno are startin' to show.
  5. Definately not MA related, but here it goes: I composed this song a while back, and sequenced it using fruityloops Producer edition. You can find it on this webpage: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/electronicmonkmusic.htm I'm no maestro, mind you. However, I've dabbled in music for some number of years off and on. It's a bit of 80-ish sounding techno, but I wanted some constructive critisizm on it (honesty appeciated). With my new job, and my senior year heating up, I haven't had the time to make any more tunes. If you don't like it, don't worry. I've already been told by some musicians that the sampled instruments didn't sound the greatest.
  6. True, what do I know? I shouldn't be the one talking, I'm no the one who has studied both Judo and Boxing to compare.
  7. Whoa PHEW!!! I was getting really worried about G Monkey Slick for a moment there. I'll go with Ali, or Lennox.
  8. Don't like the wussy foot pads - kick harder. Aside from my sarcasm - you do need to learn control, in my opinion. Learning how to become a good point fighter, or continuous moderate contact sparring with some pulled techniques is essencial to developing a certain sense of timing and especially coordination. Not everyone has the coordination to be able to control their techniques in that ideal manner - even experienced people who generally spar under moderate to low contact. However, I believe that strong contact is important - but I hardly have that opportunity to spar full contact. Seriously, I don't really see the point in foot pads. They will not help protect your opponent from any, say sidekicks. They only seem to be good for making very loud s when your rondkick comes into contact with forearms, or ribs (in that case a crackling noise accomidates it).
  9. Yep! I couldn't agree with you more. I have very few equals in terms of martial arts partners (sparring, etc.).
  10. LOL Don't get me started on lawyer jokes.
  11. That's a fantastic, but expensive long term (not range) weapon. It has no effect on the short term, and I think that's what people here are concerned about. Of course, if you're strong enough to swing the lawyer around like a warhammer it would make a good long ranged weapon.
  12. The what, the what, and the what??? Sorry for my ignorance, the only foreign language in my dojo is three Korean words for bowing and attention, and the names of our hyung.
  13. Amen! And for most - gravity is itself too great a force to stand up to (pun maybe). That's why it deserves out respect.
  14. Man... Adidas! You're definately worth more than me. [ironberg forsees comments like: "Yeah... It's called a day job. ]
  15. I wasn't trying to be aggressive, or serious back there. It's just that I know alot of people in the town I currently live in who are Norwegian ancestory. Great Joke - my friend who is a German exchange student got a real kick out of it.
  16. You'd only be stunting your growth if you are seriously doing power lifting. Of course, I wouldn't be positive about what I just stated.
  17. Yeah! I have to agree with you - growing too early and rapidly has quite a few negative connotations.
  18. There is a stand-up grappling technique I learned a while back where you break the guy's arm by hyperextending it over your shoulder - a sort of armbar. Anyone else train this technique? What methods do you use to capture the arm and/or apply the technique?
  19. Personal Evaluation: boxer wins at striking - the Judo guy simply has to be lucky to pull off a few tricks to get a boxer. Lucky - yes. Good, well, personally: Put average boxers up against good Judo practitioners - I think there would be more victories for the boxers.
  20. The best MA for fighting in groups is one that stresses all ranges of fighting and makes you proficient in all of them. The philosophy of JKD applies here.
  21. LOL Yeah... It's not like I live in Chicago. I basically live in a miniature town in the tip of Minnesota near Iowa. The town is kinda slow and uninteresting, and I like to think of it as a dark cliff near the edge of the earth. Naw, the chances of me getting gunned down are about the same as me actually staying in this town: near zero.
  22. I don't know why I found that funny. Sometimes I wish it was as easy as a change of diet.
  23. Still, it isn't as stupid or cheap as Spanish Bull Fighting.
