Sibylla Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 About half a year ago I sprained a groin muscle while grappling..and it won't go away. Sometimes, if I practice (high) kicks, kata or like to today, using a stationary bike at the gym, it comes back. It is sometimes difficult to walk because of it. Any ideas about what I should do about it? The thing is, I can't tell exactly what that makes the sprain come back, it just comes and goes..
White_Tiger Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Doesn't sound like you have rested the injury. You are going to have to back off, and let it heal. Treat with ice, anti-inflammatories and stretching. Stretch the hamstrings first, then the quads, then the adductors. Wrap the area with a 6-inch Ace bandage. Because it has lasted so long you may want to see sports medicine doctor. You may have some sort of hip injury that you think is a groin strain. Good luck!
Tibby Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 Yeah, what he said. If it hasn't gone away in this time, you need to see a doc about it.
G95champ Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Better go to the doctore you may have a rupture and may be in real touble a sprain should not last that long. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Sibylla Posted August 4, 2003 Author Posted August 4, 2003 My doc is like "it will pass"...but I'll try him again.
Looneyas Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 When you did the Injury in the first place, Did you follow the RICE rule , 2nd while comming back to training did u strengthen the injury part or straight back to stretching. You have scar tissus that will be need to be broken down the strengthened, If ya doctor says it will go away, well go to another doc or Phyo Learn and u shall TeachTeach and you shall learn,https://www.southpacifictkd.com.au
Sibylla Posted August 6, 2003 Author Posted August 6, 2003 I have a problem with the RICE and taking care of injuries, because I really don't feel much pain at the moment when I injure myself...so for instance, when my shoulder started hurting I thought it was overuse and not caused by a guy trying to rip my arm off at training the week before. I haven't done much for the sprain, but I am doing some weight training on the legs now, maybe it will help...agree I need a another doc.
