muttley
Has anyone ever started up their own blog about Karate? I have been thinking about starting up my own karate blog for a while to talk about my 30 years in and out of the martial arts. I had an idea about talking about my training, posting the odd physical training video and as I progress in Kyokushin, posting about more in-depth training things. I would also like to blog about my experience of using Karate in many self protection incidents and my teachings of personal protection in my previous job (not naming names or particular incidents of course).Trouble is, I don't know where to start or if it is something that would interest people. Nidan Melbourne
I have used the Google App 'Blogger' and just started sharing from there. Otherwise use Wordpress which is good. But to be honest i am looking at starting a new karate blog and have it as a collaborative with others. Would you be interested? Type and share it and people will come. Nidan Melbourne
I think it would be interesting because it could be able to share various points of view on things.
Montana
Uhhhh...being 62 years old and not really up on all this "blogger" stuff..isn't what you're talking about the same thing as what we're doing here on this site??? If you don't want to stand behind our troops, please..feel free to stand in front of them.Student since January 1975---4th Dan, retired due to non-martial arts related injuries. Spodo Komodo
I tried it once and couldn't keep it going. I do blog on other subjects but I don't really know enough interesting stuff to keep the momentum going on karate. My blog that gets the greatest volume of viewings is one on painting Subbuteo, people seem to like pictures and how-to guides far more than interesting prose. Mind you, a lot of my viewers are Italian so they may not necessarily read English.

Titanium
That sounds a great idea. I'm up for blogging participation. If anyone would like another author on their blog please ask. I had a blog about Japanese Proverbs one, had over 19,000 hits in its first year and my other assistant author locked me out the fool. Titanium
I think a blog is like a forum - the hardest part is getting members or a large quantity of readers. “Spirit first, technique second.” – Gichin Funakoshi
Wastelander
I started out blogging on Blogger about 7 years ago, and posted pretty regularly for a while. Then, I took a couple years off, and then started up a new blog on Blogger, which I kept up with better. Recently, I upgraded to using WordPress.Personally, I think blogging is a very healthy way of delving into your own thoughts on your training.
