Hi Anthony...

You need to find the right combo that works for you but Carbs and Protein is what you need to boost in your diet.

Carbs and protein (even a supplement raises insulin and growth-hormone levels, both important for muscle growth..

Your choice of diet would be dependent on your personal objectives.

After working out try a protein supplement rather that ingesting a high carb filling meal.

Any liquid meal is good...Twinlab Mass Fuel is pretty tasty!

Check out some sample diets online that are high carb/high protein.

post workout nutrition is key, as well as a surplus in calories.

post workout nutrition needs 2 components, protein and simple carbs(in the form of maltodextrin or dextrose is your best bet)the carbs will cause an insulin spike, and since insulin is a storage hormone, it will transport the much needed amino acids(proteins)into your muscles.

don't forget fat in your diet also. fat is needed in your body for hormone reproduction.fat has got a bad rap, and is usually overlooked. always remember this, there are essential fats and proteins(fats and proteins needed by the body but can't be produced by the body)there are no essential carbohydrates.they are needed but do not forsake fats in the name of carbohydrates.

Thanx, I will look out for those vital parts of nutrition in the things that I drink and eat.

High sources of protien can be found in:

- Turkey

- Chicken

- Tuna (no mayo with it too much fat)

- Lean cuts of beef

- if you can get it bison or buffalo (I know a bison farmer who exporting a lot of this to the UK as an alternate to beef - past problems with the british beef)

- ostritch

IF your a veggie guy take tofu...high protien, low fat, low carbs. Get your carbs from other sources such as fruits.

I agree with Iron Arahat about the tuna. It is a very cheap form of protien that pretty much anyone can get.

Ok back to the question to gain muscle mass try to eat 1 or more grams of protien for every pound of body weight. Dont forget about fats but dont over do it, so are good lots are bad!
