Fun morning routine.

I just thought I'd share an excercise routine that I was doing before the weather went sour. (Yeah, I know...what a putz chickening out because of snow and rain)

At daybreak before every workday, I headed to a local park that had a couple miles of winding bike paths etc. I started out with a short run to the concert shell where I stopped to do some basic calistenics (Sp?) (Sit ups, jumping jacks, 3-4 kinds of push-ups, stretches) followed by all the Kata's I know so far. The shell is in a remote spot where I rarely saw a soul...perfect. I then followed that up with a 2K run circling back to my vehicle where I did some final stretching. This all went great untill I messed up my shoulder (I'll switch it up daily when I resume the morning routine)

While it wasn't a grueling routine, it only took a 1/2 hr to an hour out of my day and made me feel much more energized for the remainder of the day. The path was also along a river, so there was always wildlife to say hello to on the way past. I can't wait to get at it again....well at least untill it snows.

Anyone else get up early to excercise?

I get up "early" to exercise. What I mean by that is on Monday/Wednesday/Fridays I get up around 10 AM to go to the school's gym. Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays/Sundays I just go in the afternoon. (tuesdays/thursday is after class)

What I've started to do because I don't feel like running at the gym or outside, I just climb the stairs in my dorm. I'm on the 10th floor and I walk down to the ground floor and then walk up to the top floor (the 12th). I know I'll have to change that cardio work out after I get in better shape (right now I'm in horrible shape) but it's good for now.

I already get up at 4am to go to work so I really don't want to get up any earlier, so I tend to go for a walk/run in the evening when I take to dog out

Yeah, its tough to get up early. I'd have to get up by 4:30 AM to fit it in before work. It was kind of nice to be excercising as the sun is cresting the trees.

There are some hazzards of starting too early while still dark. I was doing my warm up run and came up behind a woman with her two dogs...one of them tore off at me and just grazed my leg. Another day I ran up to the concert shell, just to find a homeless person sleeping on my workout spot. (Kind of wigged me out) Now that its dark out later, I stick to running the streets under the lights

:-? Oh dear! Although these routines sound great i am defo not a morning person at all. I am the worlds worse to get out of bed let alone do exercise first thing. Maybe i should start making changes might make me feel better during the daytime. :D

SK, you just have to "train" yourself to be a morning person. I prepare my gear for the next day that night before and then get to bed earlier, even if it means missing out on TV---nothing really worthwhile happens after 10PM anyway. The next morning I down a big glass of water and maybe some OJ and then head for the door. Adopt a "just do it" attitude and after a while, your body will be fine with early-AM training.

With respect,

Sohan
