May 15May 15 I have always wanted to go see a Lions game on Thanksgiving but never have been able to. I really wanted to go this year, but then I looked at the ticket prices and the cheapest I found were 400 dollars each! This was in the nosebleed. Between that and the cost of travel I think I will pass. Sheesh.

Depending on my health, I’ll try to see the Raiders VS 49ers pre-season game for my wife, where tickets start at $102 each. **Proof is on the floor!!!
June 1Jun 1 Huge trade this morning as the Browns send star DE Myles Garrett to the Rams in exchange for LB Jared Verse, a 2027 1st round pick, a 2028 second round pick, and a 2029 third round pick, according to the LA Rams X page. Rams are all in on this year, adding a star pass rushing to a team that was in the NFCCG last season. Rams should be SB contenders. Good trade for the Browns who are not likely to be competitive, so collecting picks and planning to build a team through the draft is a good strategy going forward. Edit: After posting this I remembered that the Super Bowl is in LA this year, so the Rams are trying to become the first team to win the SB in their home stadium twice. They won it there a few years ago, and of course Tampa Bay was the first team to do it in the 2020 season, but nobody has won it a second time. Could we see an all LA Super Bowl in Los Angles? Rams vs Chargers anyone?? Second Edit: Another big trade just happened also. The Eagles have sent WR AJ Brown to the Patriots. Eagles get a 2027 5th round pick and a 2028 1st round pick, according to the New England Patriots X page. Edited June 1Jun 1 by KarateKen updated information
June 2Jun 2 Author That Myles Garrett trade was quite the deal. They are all-in on this year. Hard telling how much longer Stafford will play, but he is playing at a high level. The only thing that is concerning is that both him and other teams are only looking at him in one, possibly two year windows, which isn't great for franchises that are trying to build beyond that. It will be interesting to see if his level of play tails off this year, or if he keeps going. I didn't see anything to make me think he's going to tail off in production, but father time does funny things to people. Wasn't shocked at all about the AJ Brown deal. The Patriots made a great run last year, playing a historically weak schedule, though, and this year will be different. We'll see if they can repeat a modicum of last year's success, and if Brown can play half a season before becoming pouty. https://www.haysgym.com http://www.sunyis.com/ https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
July 28Jul 28 Looks like Trey Lance will beat out DJ Uiagaleleli as second string QB for the Chargers this season. You might remember that in 2021 the 49ers traded up to pick Lance third overall. To get that opportunity, the 49ers gave up multiple draft picks, including some first rounders. The prediction was that Mac Jones would go third overall (he ended up being a bust for the Patriots and is now with the 49ers) but instead the 49ers picked Lance. Two years later he was traded to the Cowboys after getting very little playing time in San Fran, and it was clear the 49ers were going with Brock Purdy. Lance did not get much playing time in Dallas either, and in 2024, when Dak was injured and the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs, the Cowboys only gave one start to Lance, instead giving most of the games to the 30-year-old Cooper Rush, instead of the much younger (24) Trey Lance. Lance was then basically cut from the Cowboys after they did not pick up his option for the next year and has been the Chargers backup ever since. Why did Lance not get more playing time? He never developed. He did not show enough ability in practice or the preseason to get on the field much. Lance had a preseason game in 2024 where he threw five interceptions. That won't give the coaching staff much confidence. I don't watch preseason football, and did not know this at the time, and was confused as to why the Cowboys were not putting him in there to see what he can do since they had nothing to lose. They did on the final game of the season, a game they lost, and so far, Lance has never played a game of any significance in his five years in the league. He will go down as one of the worst busts in NFL history, and he 49ers will have made one of the worst trades in recent memory. Why were the 49ers so wrong? Well, Lance had all the physical skills. He had size, 6-4 225, and played well in college at North Dakota State. However, he only played one game in 2020 due to COVID, and probably entered the draft too soon. He played well for NDSU in 2019, leading them to a FCS title, but small schools like that don't face the same level of competition as players that come out of Michigan, Clemson, Alabama, Florida State, ect. Sometimes it can be tough to read. Also, some players can't adjust to the speed of the NFL. Others struggle to learn the more complicated playbooks. The NFL draft is basically a crapshoot. Remember 1998? There was much debate about who should be picked first, Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf. Coming out of college these two were seen as almost equal talents. One went on to the Hall of Fame, winning five MVPs along with two Super Bowl rings. The other started 21 games, had four career wins, threw 36 interceptions, and had a completion percentage of under 50 percent for his career. Manning had 539 career TD passes. Leaf had 317 career completions. Manning is by all accounts one of the best QBs in history. Leaf is by all accounts one of the biggest busts in history. This is why I ignore people who claim that someone was a great draft pick (or a bad one) just moments after the selection. Are there some head scratchers? Sure, but in most cases, we won't know for a few years if the pick worked out or not. Trey Lance might be neck and neck with Ryan Leaf for the biggest bust of all time. While I think that the Browns trade for Watson was the dumbest in NFL history, and I don't think there will be another one as stupid as that, the Lance trade is probably one of the worst in NFL history as well.
