Ya my doc says to stay away from the heavey weighted excersies like dead lifts or good mornings because one wrong twist or to much straining and I will be in the same boat that I was in when I came in to him.

In my dojo, Brown belts are consider senpai's and when you get your shodan rank you are considered sensei. when my spouse got his shodan rank it was a little hard at first to call him sensei, but now their is no problem. when I get my shodan rank I do not wish him to call me sensei if he does not want to.

I agree you should of not retaliated good job in not doing so, some people like to push new people to see how far they are welling to go, specially if the new person comes in with and macho attitude. I'm not saying you had and attitude, this is just what I've observe in my few years in ma. But I would not give up in this school unless it continues, then I would question sensei then make your mind up then. Good luck.

#1 thing to know - their name! When a new student comes to class and you address them by their name, they feel that they belong and that they are important. If you want to retain your students, you need to know who they are. Matt That is funny at my old school before some of my sensei's split off did not know my name for a long time it ways always honey or dear I want say for at least 6 months.(I ways told he ways bad with names).

I agree with what you wrote. But some times some parents get overly involved I use to be one. like yelling at their kids during class. (meaning the ones participating in class.) Just let you know I'm not the parent yelling at my kid, it kind of sounded like it the only thing I tell mine is keep your guard up and now I hardly say that he is a higher ranking student an I feel he should know that now, so gets hit he will not drop it again My sensei is dealing with a parent now he is always yelling at he's kids I am always telling him shh, sensei will deal with it. My thang now as a parent is keeping my mouth shut when my kid is grappling. He is always letting others take him down easly and then he lets them mount them easy, he does a lot better with older people(teenagers)but when he gets people his age or younger or even girls he is like a limp noodle does not give them a whole lot of residence. I find myself bitting my tongue a lot sometimes.

Yes, get well to you guys. I'm just glad mine is alleregy not what I had before I am trying not to medicate for alleregys. i do not want to be groggy. and i feel I've been medicated enough.

I am on my last step before shodan(brown belt). My sensei told me that shodan is only the begining. as was said above. I believe it is what you make it to be you are always learning exspecial by teaching others.

I totally agree. and I also agree that they should trade partners during lessons to avoid problems like that. I know in my dojo, during my sons class they do that.
