  7. to me a black belt represents the first rest stop at a long journey.Dont get me wrong, I dont mean that u can relax just beacuse ur a black belt, but now the first part of your journey has ended. as well as being guided further down the path u have been walking,u now also lead others down the road.
  8. This is one of the better threads that I have read on this forum. For me, Karate is what I put into it, a martial arts system that reflects who I am as a person. I also think that here are two levels of Karate. at the first level u build yourself around the system and let it "form/influence you as a karateka. as you progress to the next level u form the karate around you. I find Karate spiritual in the sence that it gives me a break from the everyday stress. Sorry guys I'm just rambling.

  11. If you train part time you get part time results. Its that simple. 5 hours is not to much but such a hard training regime wiill demand that u pay even more attention to what u eat. (I think Kickchick is the expert here on that particular topic)

  13. Go to talk to the sensei of the club and hear himout on his view on good and bad Karate/martial arts. Our sensei is black belt in several karate styles and chinese MA, his philosophy is that there are basically two types of karate: good and bad. i wont offend anyone on by saying which is which.

  20. Dont press tu hard with your tongue. It helps to close your eyes. I often use this technique during extra hard training sessions (between intervals and such.) It gives me that little extra energy. For longer meditations try Sai's links. His posts/links never dissapoint
  21. Two quick answers for you, my little furry freind. 1. Ki is regarded by some as "internal energy" that you can use. Other's think of it as bad breath. Personally i'm not so sure myelf, But I do think that Shotokan has Ki as I is the person and not the style that utilizes Ki (some more than others ) As for meditation try pressing ur tumbs against ur index finger and press ur tongue towards the alveolar ridge in ur mouth hope this helps
