Is Tai Chi a form of Kung Fu?
superleeds replied to superleeds's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-TrainingThanks guys. Our sensei is Norways leading instructor in both Chito ryu karate do, and Tai Chi. Anyway he told me to get more experienced at Chito before adding Tai Chi as they are a bitt different. Thank you for the help Jl and Kensai.

What do you think of Aikido?
The founder of my karate style "Chito ryu" O sensei Chitose was somewhat influenced by the concepts of aikido. (after all he was a 6th Dan or something) I personally find Aikido to be one of the more exciting M.arts. Good luck on your further development Kensai

Aims and goals
My long term goal in life as well as in karate, is simply to be the best i can be. My short term goal is to improve a little bit everytime i practice.

What are the most practical and effective martial arts?
superleeds replied to Tweedy's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-TrainingDo you mean for self defence? In that case, running is probably the best art. There is always someone smarter faster and stronger. If you run, you won't have to find out. Nuff Said.

Best of luck!! How is your guitar playing coming along BTW?- Mixing.
Just a thought..If you could "start all over again" and practice 2 MA styles, wich 2 styles would you "mix", and why these 2 ?. And what 2 styles would you not practice/mix? (and why)- Moral Obligation?
Calling the cops would probably be the best thing. If i had a pen or something, I`d write "moron", on the attackers forehead. Then stroll away- Comparing Karate
My humble apologies for mistaking shi- to with chito. I didin`t realise until this weekend (after talking to my instructors) that those were different styles.- Comparing Karate
I spelled it wrong too.... Its spelled with a C not an S- Comparing Karate
This is not funny. S-h-i-t-o!!!- Comparing Karate
Why was Shito replaced with a star? That sort of ruins the question- Comparing Karate
I`ve just started training Shito-Ryu Karate. Can anyone tell me how it differs from Wado and other forms of Karate?- Kyokushinkai Karate
We have a local club in Bergen where I come from. I tried it out once with a freind, when I was about 9-12 years old. But the instructor hit us in the head with a stick and in the stomach. My freind did not want to return so we did not. It is true that is called "the hardest Karate"- I don't have money to train..
I`m training at the University in Bergen, where I anually pay 700 NOK-, to the club wich is about 90 US dollars.- Nerves
One of the many enjoyable aspects of MA is the feeling of acomplishment. Personally I have always had problems with stuttering. But after years of playing in bands, and challenging myself, my stuttering is almost gone. I have even worked as a conferansier at concerts! Facing your fears is what makes life enjoyable. Best of luck- Hi!
I haven`t done a gig for about 11 months, nor have I practised, due to tendonitis in both elbows, but training Karate has helped me immensly, so I hope to pick up the sticks (and my guitar)fairly soon. As for your guitar playing keep going! Thanks to everyone for the nice welcome BTW- Hi!
Hello people. It is nice to find a site with so many nice people interrested in self defence and self improvement. I started practicing Chito-Ryu Karate-do about a month ago (still a newbee ) Though my first encounter with Karate was oh,say 12 years ago. (it was not a happy encounter) I must say I havent had so much fun since I started out playing drums 10 years ago. - The Countdown is ON!!!
