A millionaire GrandMaster always had a party every year for his new Black Belts to challenge them. As they were gathered around the huge swimming pool the GrandMaster said, "This pool is filled with man-eating sharks; anyone brave enough to jump in and swim all the way across can have one of three things: my lovely daughter in marriage, half my liquid cash or all my oil wells." Just then he heard a loud splash and turned to see a young Black Belt swimming frantically across the pool and coming out the other side with only torn clothing. "Amazing", he said, "you're the first one to ever try it. What do you want... "My daughter?" "No", replied the student. "Half my liquid cash?" "No", he replied. "Ahh, then all my oil wells?" "No", replied the student. "Then what do you want?" the GrandMaster asked. The young man replied, "I want to know who the Hell pushed me in the pool!!!!"

-When you shake anyone's hand you always put your left hand on the elbow of the one shaking, above it or below it -you have called your boss sah bum nim -you love the classes when you do kicks with weighted vests or ankle weights -you tie everything in a square not -you use gardening tools as weapons -you learn as many asian languages as humanly possible -you view any new students as fresh meat

yes actually i take tang soo do and its often associated with us because i guess its like the way of the korean sword or something of that nature, and tsd doesnt have many weapons so i have been looking to expand my knowledge about them. -
Murphy's Law For Martial Artists ***The whimp who made it through sparring rounds on luck alone, will suddenly turn into Bruce Lee when you're up against him. ***The referee will ALWAYS be looking the other way when you score. ***Your Instructor will only use you when demonstrating Joint-Locking techniques or Judo throws ***If you have to use your training in self defense, your attacker's father will be a lawyer ***After a flawless demonstration, you will trip on the way back to your seat ***After years of training without a single injury, you will pull a muscle the night before your black belt exam.

Ok i am not performing in this tournament but iam going to be a judge and honored guest. So i will bring my uniform but iam suppose to wear slacks and a white shirt, and typically people where lapel pins to show, what style they do, where they're from, what rank they are etc etc etc but i cannot seem to find a site with an adequate amound, and i do not want to order three pins, all from different places so if any of you could shine a small light on this situation with a website or anything, please do so. thank you in advanced. in tang soo, k.chuilli

yes nicely said everyone. but another thing to keep in mind is, at some of these tournaments, you will have judges of all different styles and origins, so a sloppy move is a sloppy move and if that move is not in there system they are just going to see it as sloppy, but people in your system will know what it was suppose to be and they will see some semblance of a technique. and lastly, i have learned that the longer you have practiced a kata the less likely you are to freeze up. GOOD LUCK! in tang soo, k.chuilli

Good Idea
Chuilli, Kyo Sah Nim replied to Symphony-x's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
that will definately help with your kicking, almost any korean art can do that for you. but if you dont want the troubles of starting another art, train on your own. start stretching more, kick with weighted vests and ankle weights, train for quickness and technique. but yes doing that will help your kicks. good luck, you will be fine with whatever you chose. in tang soo, k.chuilli -
how long have you studied?
Chuilli, Kyo Sah Nim replied to boyo1991's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
almost a decade, i cant believe it! -
well some places that i have had no difficulty with in the past are: centuryma.com---a little pricey superiormartialarts.com--very fast, very nice, very affordable, site is kind of confusing tho you have to deal with it but its worth it karatedepot.com--got by black belt there and i have loved it for many years, and still using it, fast shipping, and i believe its only 2.95 martialartsmart.net--affordable, quick good luck
-
i personally suggest ball bearing chuks, and for competition something that gives off a little metallic glare, no need to go all XMA or anything thats just tacky, but a alittle shine as it moves makes them disappear when fast enough. but i would definately get a dvd or find a style that has chuks in them, or just find a studio that will just teach you chuks. dvds are fine though, nothing can beat a grandmaster, professor, master of instructor though. good luck in tang soo, k.chuilli

Things NOT to say to your instructor...
Chuilli, Kyo Sah Nim replied to Valithor's topic in Instructors and School Owners
"thats it???" "that looks cool, you should do XMA"--to a tma instructor "do i have to wait until im THAT old to get my black belt"--points to some ancient highly respected grandmaster -

What to do after a conflict
Chuilli, Kyo Sah Nim replied to DWx's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Clearly in a situation where someone wishes to cause you great harm and grief, you want to subdue the agressor(s) first then once that is done do not go any further you do not want serious issues with the law, just be thankful they are the subdued ones and not you. once that is done with, if it is a place where someone is around i would grab someone else and tell them to go and call for help and or authorities. if not, you should get the help yourself. number one is make sure your safe, second is authorities/ambulatory services so as to keep others safe, and not get your, you know what, sued off. in tang soo, k.chuilli
