Now that's just mind-numbingly stupid.... Rubiks cubes are hand enough, why add the difficulty of sudoku as well?
-
you sort of got a point (sword over fan) ..but...i'll tell you now..if your skilled with it...unfolding a fan doesn't take much longer then pulling a knife out of your pocket >.> in fact, it can be faster XD And when they are opened its in a slicing action

Wow the robot in the second video is pretty cool.

have you seen the professor cubes? they're just insane, they are 6 x 6 x 6
-
Congrats to him

Well when they are flicked open, they become liked a curved blade and when they are closed they can used as a knife like weapon. I did find this video a while ago, while not very fast it does show some possible applications: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TJk7LfFmayo

Ahh... you would be one of the weird and wacky speed cubers then. I can sort of do most of the algorithms to do the first two layers. The bottom layer corners are a problem though... Still think Lordtariel's method is the best

How well do u know your old kata/forms?
DWx replied to Azmyth's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I always go through the 1st 3 or 4 forms as part of my personal warm up before a training session. Helps to get me in the right frame of mind before starting. They just get ingrained into you if you do them often enough... -
Similar one to that from the Red Lizard tshirts: The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle.

Thats really good.

I visited an ITF School yesterday
DWx replied to CTTKDKing's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Chang Ung is supposed to be actively talking to the WTF to agree on some sort of merger or combined group. Most practitioners are unconcerned by the politics of the various different groups. It is only when you get to the higher levels that it really becomes an issue. -

Holding certification in two similar styles of TKD would be like holding belts in two similar styles of karate. I don't see it as that much of a problem. -
Don't think I've had that many injuries myself. Once took my instructors heel full onto my nose... didn't break though. A couple of months ago I came down wrong after a burpese (squatthrust-starjump) and landed on the side of my ankle. Nearly broke my big toe on someone's shin. That' about it really.
-
When I first started, my instructor used electrical wiring tape on the belts to denote seniority within grades...

I actually have no idea where it comes from... just found it on this site that has random funny quotes.

Hwang's Martial Arts, studio advice Please?
DWx replied to Clash's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Might be worth checking it out. $50 a month doesn't seem too bad.. would depend on what you get from it though. And it doesn't have to be big and fancy to provide excellent teaching -
How about: Always forgive your enemies - Nothing annoys them so much. I think of this when I'm realy irritated by someone, usually does the trick

Enter The Dragon
DWx replied to knma91's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
If you read the article: That's only loosely the same as Enter the Dragon. Lee played an FBI agent who infiltrated the tournament, not an underground kung fu club and to be honest I can think of quite a few films about underground martial arts organisations. The article is not exactly that informative, here's another one: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117969988.html?categoryid=13&cs=1 If the director is planning to do a noir-style remake than it will probably be a lot different and they are just using Enter the Dragon to draw some attention. I'm not all that bothered to be honest, if its good I'll watch it, if its not I won't bother... simple as that. -
I like that one

I suppose it depends on what you are doing and what you want it for. 100 slow laps are going t work you in a different way to 25 sprint laps. As for abs there are a lot more beneficial exercises than swimming because you wouldn't necessarily exert that area of your body. For someone who isn't a top athelete, I would imagine swimming is a very good form of exercise.

I'm not so sure that the Kukkiwon says that you have to wear a white dobok in your own school. And I only saw one photo where the kids who were sparring looked at the camera. They're only kids and its natural for them to want to pose. I do agree with you on the blackbelt issue. In m book he ought to be ancient if he has put IMO an appropriate amount of time into gaining those levels.
