Having witnessed several knockouts, busted teeth, and a fractured orbital from so called "weak" TKD kicks, I can only shake my head at what some of you have seen in other TKD practioners. I doubt any of the recipiants of those kicks would agree with you. It really does depend on your instuctors and focus of the school I guess. Train hard everyone! OSU! Pil Sung!

The first part of the program was ok but overall the show was far too dramatic. I didn't care for the weapons segment either. I also wonder if durring the first segment if they took the hitters weight into account when they did the readings. The WC guy was tiny compared to the boxer so I'd expect his numbers to be lower even if they did the same style.

Wing Chun in Minneapolis?
niel0092 replied to Robin's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
No problem, glad I could help. I also remember that there was a Vo Lam Kung Fu club at the UofM while I was there. You could try that as well. When you do find a school let us know how it goes. -

Ok, not Wing Chun but at least it's a chinese art. I've driven past it but never checked it out myself. It's in Blaine, which is north east of Minneapolis http://www.schoolofshaolin.com/home.html Here's a Mantis Kung Fu school... but it's in Maplewood which is an eastern suburb of St Paul http://www.masterginfoonmark.com/main.html -

This link is to an article written by my Kali instructor, Rick Faye, on the place of drills in training. I found it to be well thought out and a different take on what we see in current opinions on training. Take a look and see what you think. http://www.inosanto.com/article_info.php?articles_id=3&osCsid=252c85581b0356c0b100d4b85bd7ce29

Way to go! -
SCA was fun... right up until I took a great sword to the upper arm. My opponent managed to hit the spot right between my elbow guard and spalder. Made my whole arm go numb Nah, it was still fun

I agree with elbows_and_knees. This is a conversation that you should have with your coach, both to discuss your goals and how to reach them. Good luck and tells us how it goes! -
I check these almost daily: http://www.fark.com It's a "not news" site where people make up their own headlines to articles and post links to the article it self. Also has a discussion section at the side of each post. http://www.wild.com MN Wild homepage http://www.theonion.com If you havent read the onion, you're missing out http://www.dilbert.com Yea for Dilbert! http://www.cnn.com Kinda biased, kinda fluffy at times, but I still find myself reading it. http://news.bbc.co.uk This is the news I read when I get fed up with CNN and their constant coverage of Hollywood crud I could care less about.

I've heard that for cycling it's actually because if you fall it's easier to get the dirt and gravel out of your leg. Kinda gross, and I'm not sure if it's true, but it sounds reasonable.

I was talking with a friend one day while walking and turned to make a point. I ended up backing into a street sign. My head and the sign rung like a gong...
