  1. Think of it like this. Take them out of their comfort zone. A boxer is a good striker... dont stand with him.. get him on the ground. A wrestler... dont get down on the ground with him. Karateka.... get on the ground with him.... You get the idea.
  2. I would say that 95% of the time you can judge if something physical is going to happen before it does and when it does you can tell which side the attack is coming from even though you dont know what it going to be ie a kick or punch or both . I strike at that moment and just hope im fast enough. I have only had to do it a couple of times in 20 years and count myself lucky.
  3. After seeing how effective Ju-jitsu was on the ground I started training in it to complement Karate. I havent had any issues so far and I'm sure you wont either!
  4. Chojun Miyagi Gichin Funakoshi Morio Higaonna Kenwa Mabuni Mas Oyama
  5. Name: John Titles: none. I dont compete. Style(s): Karate, Ju-Jitsu Fav Technique: none really, what ever works but starting to like ground and pound more
  6. We twist the hand when performing (mae haji-ate) elbow strikes to generate more power. I have never quite understood why it works it just seems to.
  7. Kinda large but he moves okay.
  8. Your sensei / sifu due to his people skills would probably best to deal with this situation. I'm sorry that you have this issue. Some people huh!
  9. How about a chair against a short stick.... after i defeated the opponent (all be it a student one grade lower) he was lying on the floor, i straddled him with the legs at sat on it.

    Belts

Hi, Im from England and I don't have to pay on the day to grade. There a monthly fee agreed depending on how often you train and it taken monthly by direct debit from my bank. This fee covers everything including grading fees and even a new belt if graded successfully.
  11. I absoulutely agree with every point made. One thing that springs to mind is that is that maybe the students dont know they are training in a McDojo. How would they be able to gauge the skill level as all the students they train with are doing it also. I suppose they wont realise until they need to call upon the skills. Just a thought.
  12. I've been told that the satin belts that fray more easily than the standard cotton belts so if you want that look I personally have a normal cotton belt.
  13. The Kyokushin way: Mas. Oyama's karate philosophy
  14. Hi. I found this site to be fairly informative. http://www.geocities.com/sadenoo2/mykarate.html Good luck in your training.
  15. I believe that in Kykoushin, this kick (keage rising) is only taught as a stretching technique to assist you in performing yoko geri's at Jodan level and because its in some katas. I was also lead to believe that its only in kata for the same reason but could be wrong.
