Does anyone know if Combat and Traditional Karate are still going as i can only find MAI these days? Thanks in advance.

I spent 1.5 hours four to five times a week in the dojo plus at least 1 hour per day training at home doing basic conditioning, kata and techniques. I would like to add some roadwork in sometime soon

We all study the traditional katas such as takiyoko, Pinan etc and I was wondering if and how many dojos have devised their own along with the bunkai?

Hi thanks for the information and link. I was only asking what the rules where. I dont have any issues with full contact anywhere except the groin I've trained in an offshoot of Kyokushin for many years where full contact is allowed.

Hi all. I found this link earlier containg extracts from a Kyokushin comp (not sure where it was held) and noticed there was no punching but alot of kicking to the head. Pretty much the same as Angela's school. We have had some senior grades from all over and they are invited to wear their current grade/belts when training however if they joined full time they would be evaluated.

I have searched the web and I don't believe its available any more but thanks for the information and looking.

Shodan-Ho is normally used for under 18 karatekas. They then need to test for full shodan when they reach 18.

I think you will find that Chojun Miyagi sensei refused to award dan grades for along time. He was not a fan of the belt system and the problems it causes.

I've just been informed that there are two types; soft (in-ibuki) and hard(yo-ibuki) and wondered if anyone could explain what soft ibuki is and how its performed as I've only ever done hard ibuki. Thanks in advance.

I'm British and from what i've read on this forum and others it seems as though charges in the US are extremely excessive for lessons and gradings.

I didnt see it listed Crane stance sometime referred to as Tsuru Ashi Dachi, Sagi Ashi Dachi and Gankaku dachi. Used to move out of the way of a low leg strike. Used in Karate and weapons kata.
