Reminds me of one time after I'd changed my room around and got a new full length mirror. I woke up to someone staring at me, jumped out of bed into a fighting stance. Then I realized that the intruder was my mirror image Oh yes I scared myself often enough with my new mirror.. I'd walk into my room to turn the light on and see something.. succeeding by "omg it was just me!".

Congrats . I might make it there one day

We are actually told not to abuse it rather than not to use it. For as far as self confidence.. I don't know, but I like hitting and kicking punch bags and see what happens, comparing things too and then I notice that my left leg is actually still my weaker leg, but knew that already

Won't a 3-section-staff handle similar?

Sounds impressive I will certainly buy it but the nintendo wii hasn't come out here yet.

Looking for aniti-martial arts video...
Myth replied to Spirit At Choice's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Wow, that's strange. Especially at the end it sais that martial artists know so many moves that they, as the narrator sais, are overtrained and don't know what to do. This is very very false indeed, all these overtrained moves I know as reflexes. Sure this can happen to martial artists, but what shotokankid said can happen just as well, and is even more likely. Must have been a misplaced 1 april joke. -
I'm quite sure it won't, how impossible would that be? But I'm planning to buy it still.

That's nice . I can imagine he stopped lol

how do you bring down someone bigger than yourself?
Myth replied to Ryan gry's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I haven't got much experience on this, not much at all. All tactics described seem nice, but for what I've seen they forget the most important thing about school fights... people trying to stop you from behind. So while you are going all they grab you with about 5 persons and drag you away, I've had that happen to me a long time ago and it's learned me not to show that I'm about to attack. But I've never been into a high school fight yet, in 10th grade now. Someone was bothering me slightly however, when he tried to squash me in a door portal with two of his friends I just pushed back and I've never been bothered again, I guess it's just a matter of showing your capability. So in your position, beating him up might not be a bad idea, however I really think that the fight won't last any longer than 15 seconds. Either he has backed up or any of you gets pulled away. The situation in your school might be very different though, actually, this was based on experience from long ago and from what I've heard. Fights just break up real quickly at school. Just my thoughts on this. Myth -
I can't even reach my feet with my hands . I suppose I'll be doing stretching exercises daily now though, plan to anyway
-
If I struggle with a kick I just practise, practise and practise even more on a punch/kick bag. After a while I am perfectly balanced and peform the kick greatly. However some can be tricky to do when there is nothing to hit of course.

We do all these just after warm up and after the end of the training too, we dont hold them for 20-30 seconds at all though. Thanks for your advice. And chillindan if you search on google for images you will probably see illustrations of what is ment. EDIT: And can stretching be done when you are cold or should you do an intense warming up first?
-
Thank you for your response, can you give me some examples of what those exercises actually are?
-
Hi, I'm posting this message to ask for advice on stretching. I notice very often that when performing kicks, especially ones where you turn first(!!), my legs end up just too low. It's not horrible and it is sufficient, however I'd really like to be able to kick higher actually. For this kind of thing there are stretching exercises and all those, we do them during training all the time too. But you can't do these when your muscles are cold can you? What would you advice me? Thank you, - Myth BTW: I'll have my green belt exam at Saturday . yay.

Ok. Thanks. And note It's the Phyang Ang Hyung Il Bo, or something that sounds like that. Not the other one .

Why does "Heian Shodan" look exactly the same as "Seke Hyung Sam Bo" in Tang Soo Do? Heian Nidan also looks fimilar, but I haven't learned all Tang Soo Do hyungs yet .

Are you considering PCs the same as computers, and even windows? I've heard rumours windows can run on macs. ** WARNING: Geek Answer But... PC a registered trademark from I.B.M. (it might have expired by now, but I doubt it). And in that way almost no computer can be a PC, and macs ofcourse, though they all do the same thing, do things diffrent. It's embarrising to say that I don't know of what components a MAC consists.

Uniform for small martial artist
Myth replied to taekwondomom's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Are you sure it's stiff? When I got my uniform it was stiff, whenever I get another belt its stiff, but it will loosen up provided you do enough Can't say much more usefull any further. -
trainig with lower/higher ranking students
Myth replied to PlasmaShock's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I always train with other belt colours. It appears to me that it would otherwise be a bit boring also? I learn stuff from higher belts quite a lot yes, you can look how they do it and not adapt the wrong style of someone else your colour. But that's just an idea. -
Suppose you are being attacked with a katana sword. The attacker can be either highly experienced, or not at all. If you are unarmed yourself, and running away doesn't count, then how could you ever get out of this? Also, are those swords even legal? I, myself, would probably never come into any situation like this, don't even have a sword at home, and don't plan on doing weapons until I get it at my trainings. (I've done a Bo Hyung though... ) Pretty much, I'm just being curious. Thanks, - Myth
