  1. Im checking my hair every day for grey/silver streaks hehe.
  2. Oh no i'm 30! It was my birthday on 12th July and normally i am like a child and get excited for my birthdays. But not this time, i was dreading it, and it has taken ages for it to sink in. For those of you who are 30 or over how did you feel? Kez x
  3. Hey guys, they have taken the little man off all his monitors and machines, and no more wires. The doctors are very happy with progress. He is full of smiles and laughter. They are just running some tests on his liver and kidneys because his heart drugs could have effected them. The doctors have said that they cannot repair his heart but he could live a long time with it. So fingers crossed and wishing many happy years for the little guy!
  4. I do agree with Brian here, they do go one after the other for the whole hour, it's very annoying and disruptive to the class. We are not talking about completely banning the toilet, just recognising the one's who are serious and genuinely needs to go. As Brian says it's just an hour and if they went before hand then there shouldn't really be a problem.
  5. Not square in the face but sometimes i have been caught at the side of my face with uraken while do sparring work, i have taken the occasional knock but nothing to serious
  6. Ahh right, thanks for the info Patrick.
  7. Thanks everyone. Still no more news, he is in a hospital quite far away so i'm relying on phone calls. Thanks again.
  8. Wow these are great, thanks guys. Yes we have mainly kids in the beginners. I actually made a big blunder the other day, i was going through heian godan and i had a mental block and forgot the next move, it was definatly down to nerves, and the kids laughed It was embarrasing but i took it with a pinch of salt. I like the idea of blindfolding them while they do their kata, that should be fun, and also the idea of having a gameplan (so to speak), i had thought about taking the grading syllabus with me next time. It's been such a long time since i graded for these belts i can't remember their required combinations. And the voice thing....yes i totally agree. My friend is a red belt and he was amongst the one's i was teaching. He said he could barely hear what i was saying, so yes i need to raise my voice a little. I love it when it's a mixed bunch of kids and adults, because the adults put the effort in and don't react that its me teaching, they just treat me as any other instructor, sometimes the kids follow that. Oh and there is a good thing from all this. I was teaching last wednesday and one of the kids called me sensei...i tell you i was proud as punch
  9. I have every one of the films on dvd but we must be behind because im sure there hasnt been 7 films on dvd yet here. We are up to order of the pheonix which is coming out in the cinema on july 12th. I have never read the books i dont think i could get into them like the films.
  10. Hey guys my sister had her first baby 5 months ago, she has wanted a baby since she was small and at 28 she became a mum. She named him James and he is beautiful. Unfortunatly on thursday this week he was admitted to hospital because he lost weight. For the last 3 months we have noticed he hasn't being putting any weight on and he was very skinny. We have recently found out he has heart disease and the only options are for him to either pull through on his medication, have a heart transplant or leave us. Apparantly his left ventricle is very enlarged and they are hoping that the drugs they are giving will help his heart return to size naturally, if not he will need the transplant The doctors have given the little fella 50/50 chance so right now we are all praying and keeping our fingers crossed that it all goes the best way. Thanks for listening guys, he is in a specialist childrens hospital and obviously my sister and her husband are there, i have offered my complete support and have been there when they wanted im just feeling a little numb and uselless so i just needed to chat, thanks fingers crossed and lots of prayers. Kez xx
  11. So sorry! Whats the 4th July? Probably being stupid but i cant remember what that was.
  12. As a lot of you know i have recently gained my shodan back in may. I have been teaching the beginners and although i enjoy it i find it hard. I have moments where i find myself just stood there thinking "erm". And you tend to get them constantly asking you for a drink or to go to the toilet, and sometimes they mis-behave or chatter. I think a lot of it id to do with them knowing i am new to teaching and also new to shodan and so they think they can get away with more. Any tips on how i can make a class fun and at the same time be in control of the 'naughty' one's. Anything will be appreciated. Cheers guys Kez x
  13. all the heian kata's and tekki shodan and bassai dai. We also have to know kanku-dai, enpi, hangetsu and jion. Although we dont need to know them thoughorly but we need to have knowledge of them.
  14. Aww wow i dont think i could wait a month to find out! Sounds like a hard one, will keep my fingers crossed for you.
  15. At the moment i'm just wearing a cotton belt that someone borrowed me until i can afford an embroidered belt. It's my birthday in July so im going to ask everyone to chip in towards one. I'm teaching now for half a lesson every wednesday, just the white belts for some teaching experience. I think i'm still up in the clouds somewhere, hehe i'm so proud.
  16. Yippee yay i'm over the moon! I did it guys. Yesterday i passed my shodan. It was gruelling and on a couple of accasions i thought i was actually going to pass out, but i kept going. I won my fighting section by 4 points to 1 so i was really chuffed about that. My kata's were heian sandan, heian godan, heian nidan, heian godan and bassai dai, and i passed them all with flying colours. Sensei said that the standard was amazing and he couldn't fault anyone. So i just wanted to let you all know. Kez xx
  17. Mine was chosen for me when i was around 8 years old, both myself and my brother was taken to shotokan karate class by our dad. I'm glad though i love it and would never change it.
  18. I think if i trained outdoors and was seen i would probably get mobbed by youths lol, although i have been very tempted to video myself doing kata in a nearby field. I do prefer training in the dojo though and when i can at home.
  19. Yeah thanks guys, i'll keep it up and let u guys know after the event.
  20. Thats brillaiant, bet your very proud and i bet he is too!
  21. Oh my god guys it's finally approaching and i'm really nervous. The 20th may is my first dan grading. I have been waiting for this for many many years and we finally have a date. As a lot of you have noticed i'm hardly on here anymore because i have lost the net at home, but please guys any advice and support on how to prepare for this most important test would greatly be appreciated, i will try my best to come on as much as i can to reply. I can't believe how excited i am. The main thing i'm worried about is the fighting part, i think i'm an ok fighter but i dont have a lot of experience fighting with adults so this is going to be a real test for me! Kez xx
  22. I got a fish tank with 6 goldfish and a loach. I also have a rabbit and a cat.
