So, on 04/08/2008, I FINALLY passed my 2nd degree blue belt test! Only 3 belts to go until I test for black belt. So: EVERYBODY PARTY!!!!!!
-
Come on, anybody else? I feel kinda unloved here, people.
-
I stay motivated by thinking about how awesome my muscle will look.
-
How do you stay motivated to train/work out?
-
I'm just wondering if anybody's done a 5K race. If you did, did you have fun? What was it like? I just want to know what doing one is like.
-
I'm going as a goth.
-
What should I do to lose the fat in my thighs & butt? I'm WELL AWARE that I'm clueless.
-
I should probably say what my faves are, huh? OK, I like squats, bicep curls and military press.
-
I'm just INSANELY curious about this, so, here's my question: For those of us who DO lift weights(in addition to MA training), what's your favorite exercise to do with them?
-
I'm supposed to practice my forms & techniques and weight-train, but I just can't seem to stay motivated. Any tips, hints, suggestions?

I'm currently taking private lessons because, due to my schedule at ODU, I had to drop going to Hampton for classes. Well, I had a private lesson on Sept. 7th. My instructor mentioned I was about ready to test but he wants me to test in front of a large group of people, and I'm somewhat freaked about that now. I have no problem with testing in front of a SMALL group, but thinking about a HUGE group kinda makes my stomach hurt. Any suggestions on how to deal?
-
No, seriously, what is it? I ask this because I have NO idea whatsoever! One of the black belts in my class mentioned it to me, and I'd like to know more about it. Explain in terms a 9 year old could understand-- my brain's still sort of fried from studying for my exams!
-
I normally wear my dobok, but every so often, we train in normal clothes.
-
Christina's 2nd degree blue belt test, part 2! and ACTION! OK, the last Tuesday in April is just a few short days away and I'll be testing again. HOPEFULLY I will pass this time! ::fingers crossed:: Wish me luck, 'K?

Who is your "mentor" in MA??
cnada replied to karatekid1975's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My mentor is my instructor, Jim Barnes. -
My instructor got me started on one. It's useful.

Things NOT to say to your instructor...
cnada replied to Valithor's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I'm not sure if this is actually funny, but this IS true (for me at least): Don't EVER tell your instructor that you suck at something-- you WILL get yelled at! -
how many hours do you train a day?
cnada replied to boyo1991's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I do 2-5 hours over the course of the day. But, it's more like, an hour here, 30 mins. there. I have a LOT of down time this semester, though. -
Here's my explanation of front stance & fighting stance. Let me know if it makes ANY sense! FRONT STANCE start in ready stance cross arms over body right over left move right foot 1 1/2 shoulder widths apart in front as you do that bring right arm down, kinda like you're blocking & chamber left arm your right fist should be, like, 2 fists above your right leg your back leg should be kinda straightish, but not totally rigid--there needs to be some bendyness to it. right leg has 30% of your body weight & back leg has 70% of your body weight FIGHTING STANCE start in ready stance step back with right foot--behind left foot but slightly to the side knees should be slightly bent your body should be kinda sideways bring your fists up to kinda in between your chest & face

I failed. At least, that's how I view it. My instructor says we just took a break. I was doing fine until my instructor asked me to explain how to do a front stance, and then I started freaking out (tears, hyperventilating). I told him I'm bad at explaining stuff, and then he got upset at me. So, I have 'til Saturday to e-mail him with the explainantion of how to do a front stance and a fighting stance. So, basically I'm screwed.

How was this? I would like to see it (I am an old Turtle fan!) Last night, I watched Rocky Balboa. I really enjoyed this movie. Rocky is a great success story. If you ever need inspiration, all you have to do is watch a Rocky movie! It's AWESOME!!!!!

The last flim I saw was this weekend(on the 25th), my mom & I saw TMNT.

After years of being a purple belt (yes, I said 'YEARS'), several of which were WAY beyond my control--among other things, I will FINALLY be testing for my 2nd degree blue belt on Tuesday! So, YAY for me!
