Usually, the guy who took the "cheap shot" is the guy who lost. Fighting is fighting. There is no such thing as a "fair fight." If you want to fight fair, get into competition. If you are fighting, fight to win. If that means kicking, then so be it.

New move guaranteed to defeat your opponent!

I think you will be pleased if you get one.

I think he will get in, eventually, so it isn't too big a deal. People are always so much higher on offensive players, I think. Irvin got in, who won 3 Super Bowls, and Thurman Thomas got in, who one 4 consecutive AFC titles. They are great players, too. When his eligibility is closer to being up, I think he will get in. People don't realize what he did for that team defensively. During the years he was there, no one had more sacks in that span than he did. He changed the way the position was played.

I loved Tekken, and all the styles involved. A Tekken SF2 crossover would be kind of cool....could you imagine a 3D SF2?? Awesome! -
No. The core is deep in the bag. You won't have a problem.

I am a fan of the water-filled bags. I would get one if I was buying.

I agree with you there. Then, you can use the broken rhythm to take them out.

I can see the point of your concern here, bearich. But I think that the reason that they chose what they did to start with probably comes down to availability, popularity, and cost. I think that if the program takes off, and people really take to it, then the college may become more willing to add other facets to the program, such as those mentioned above. However, you have to start somewhere, and you usually have to start slow. Those could be factors in the decisions made.

True, but the same could be said for martial arts training.

Mine was one from years ago, called Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Well, the game did not turn out like I thought. I have noticed a pattern throughout the season....I am always wrong!!! Seriously, don't ever listen to me when it comes to sports predictions!!! The Super Bowl did have lots of turnovers, but it also had lots of rain. I thought it was fun to see a Super Bowl played in the elements like that. Geez, now what to do? My nice thread here is going to go to sleep for several months now, I think. Oh, well, at least NASCAR is going to be starting up soon!!! I will be keeping an eye on the Chiefs during this off-season, and will put in updates. I did see that they agreed to terms with a Tackle named Ramiro Pruneda, who played 5 years with Monterrey Tech, in Mexico. He had a stand-out carreer there, and is 6', 6", and weighs 237. I have also seen that there is a publication out called Warpaint, a KC Chiefs magazine. I do believe I shall be subscribing.

hypothetical weapons tournament, what would you use?

That does sound like an interesting drill. -
Well, at least that's a start!

That is quite an interesting conglomeration there. Is the TKD that you learn more of the sport oriented, like the WTF, or the ITF?

Expectations of a martial artist.

It would really depend on intent, and severity level. As Kez mentioned, there are som 14 year olds that are quite well developed, and could cause some bodily harm, if they wanted to. However, if you have little 10 year olds, the severity level may change somewhat. -
Yeah, the 'broken rhythm' was one of Bruce Lee's principles of Jeet Kune Do. He felt that being rhythmic could lead into the opponent figuring out your patterns and such. After all, human beings are creatures of habit. Therefore, he used the broken rhythm to keep opponents more off-balanced.

The Martial Artists' Training Log

2-5-07: No lifting again today. My wife was sick today, so I missed the weights. I did get in some MA training, though. 3:30-5:30: Combat Hapkido 6:00-7:00: Traditional TKD class. -
I hope that goes well for you! You should find that ability to get instant feedback much better for your training in the end.
-
That is interesting, Charles. When thinking of rhythm, it makes me think of Bruce Lee's concept of broken rhythm. Both are good, and too much of each could be bad.

No Brian just tell yourself your really really good Thanks, Kerry! But sometimes, I just can't convince myself to believe me!

Expectations of a martial artist.

When someone runs off at the mouth, that is all it is. If they don't come within your space, then the best thing you can do is ignore it. I am quite surprised that they come into the dojo and yell, though. I just couldn't see something like that going on around here. As martial artists, I think one of the best things we can do is just stay within ourselves, and not let others get to us with their words. It is the control of our actions that helps to set us apart from the uncontrollable. And when the time comes to use it, do what you are trained to do, and worry about the courts later.
