Be like Bolo!! That is the main reason I work out; I want to have the strength and power necessary to end a fight quickly. Intimidation is never a bad thing either...it helps to avoid fights. I do not mean I would ever use that to get my way, I just mean to keep people away who might try to start something with me, if that makes any sense. -
Good sharing of opinions. Bruce was an incredible sight on the movie screen and in my opinion a good person in life. I am in no position to say whether or not the man is the best martial artist due to the fact that I have not seen all martial artists! But, his influence is GREAT, and you have to respect him for his accomplishments in the martial arts and cinema world and the people he has inspired. Jeet Kune Do was a pretty good system as well...

All this talk of looks is making you guys sound superficial.

I watched Outfoxed today, which is basically a documentary about the Fox News Channel. It describes how they don't report anything, that it is powered by conservatives, and many other observations. Really shows the contradictions of O'Reilly and the other news "reporters". Well, it's worth a look.

Yes. In order to build muscle effectively you have to work out with weights, and eat a high protein diet. 3 months ago I could bench only about 155 lbs and I weighed about 145. After I started benching every other day (sometimes more time to rest depending on the severity of the workout), I would eat a lot of peanut butter, soy products, meat, etc. to reinforce my routine. I am now benching 190 and weigh about 165. When you do lift, do high weight, low reps, and push yourself to exhaustion. Good Luck.

Bolo Yeung?
SatyagrahaKF replied to SatyagrahaKF's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I've been a fan for a while, I didn't know if he was just mostly an actor or an actual martial artist. Thanks for the information. -
Bolo Yeung?

I didn't realize that elbows and knees...I was starting to consider cutting back on my weight lifting because I thought it would make you less agile/flexible. Thanks. -
Bolo Yeung?

Yeah, his real name is Yang Sze, I just like calling him Bolo! I think having a body of that size could possibly hinder your flexibility and ability to be an effective martial artist. But his strenght probably makes up for that. -
A lot of good opinions here guys. I personally agree with Willannem that his inspiring of people to train in the martial arts was not necessarily a bad thing. I have always found his teachings of the intercepting fist interesting, and he has some of the best martial arts philosophy (be like water...). Ah yes...

Horseriding stance
SatyagrahaKF replied to SatyagrahaKF's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Yeah thats cool guys. I was reffering to the stance with your thighs parallel to the ground. If you guys can go 20-30 minutes that is GREAT!! -
Plyometrics and squats. Every other day you should do calf raises till failure, normal stand still jumps till failure, and box jumps till failure--2 sets of each. The days after this you should try maybe 3 sets of high weight squats. BUT DON'T OVER DO IT!! I used to do intensive leg training and although I eventually did improve (8 inches on vertical) I started out by working too hard too often. By the way, results don't happen quickly; took me about 1 year and a half till I reached my goal at the time.

How important is Ch'i?
SatyagrahaKF replied to raven91's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I agree with Alucard. I have been doing very intense meditations as of lately and I believe that Chi is the awareness and energy that makes up life. It is your inner being. Meditation for me, helps bring out more control over my body and I can in a sense watch myself do forms, techniqes, etc. It is a great experience and will most likely help you find your Chi.
