  1. So I had some soup with my dinner (creme of broccoli) and was wondering what everybody's favorite soup is. I used to love New England Clam Chowder but now it makes me sick but my favorites are still Creme of Broccoli and the classic chicken noodle. What are your favorites?
  2. If this contract was unknowingly signed then you can have a legal case because one must know about this before entering into a contract. So if there were no signs of it and the place just put you into it there could be a legal thing against them. Of course, there may have been things that you didn't notice at the time that would allow them to have the contract and have it withstand. The question you have to ask yourself is which is cheaper: paying a lawyer to possibly fight this and pay court fees, or just pay the remainder of the contract and don't do business with them anymore.
  3. I'd suggest that if you want to run with an incline you do so on a treadmill. Running downhill is very hard on your legs (joints). I don't remember if I read that here or in an article in a different site, but I know that it puts more pressure on the joints so it's best to just go uphill (you can choose that on a treadmill)
  4. 10k is 10 kilometers. Good luck with your run tomorrow, Havoc
  5. I'll definitly get some bagels but we're not allowed to have any electrical appliances other than lamps, TV, computer and the fridge/freezer/microwave unit we're issued. It kinda sucks. But I'll definitly get some bagels this weekend or next week. Good call!
  6. There is a show called "Yes, Dear!" that was on CBS (I don't know if you'd get it in the UK, I doubt it) but the premise is there is one family and the wife/mom's sister and her husband and kids live in the first family's guest house. Well anyway they have an episode where they are potty training the kids and they leave one kid outside naked with a potty and let the kid run around and he learns it in 3 days. Now that's in southern California where the weather is always nice. I don't think you'd be able to do that with the weather in the UK. But, my advice is whenever you know that your son used his potty, offer positive feedback and to make him realize that it's a good thing to go on the potty. Also, I don't know if you do this, but don't be negative around your son if he wets his pants or whatever because, from what I've heard, that can cause problems from shame and whatnot. Anyways, good luck.
  7. Thanks ninjanurse, I'll look into that. The problem for me is I'm at college and live in a dorm. If I don't want to eat what the college offers I have a microwave, small fridge and small freezer, so I'm limited on my food options. But I'll look and see if I can find some more carbs in the options I have.
  8. How many times a day does it say to take it? If it's twice I just take mine after I get up in the morning and before I go to bed at night. The brand I have just says to take it twice a day (after the loading period of 4 to 6 times a day for 5 days), and doesn't give specific times. I'd say take it whenever it's most convienent for you.
  9. I've started a new routine for my cardio, I walk up and down the stairs in my dorm (I live on the 10th floor and there are 12 floors in the dorm). I go down from the 10th to the ground level, then up to the 12th back down to ground level and up to the 10th and I'm done. I'm going to extend my routine Thursday so that I'm going up 3 times because I feel I'm ready for it. But here's my main concern. I'm pretty winded at the end of it and my major muscles ache when I'm done (mainly my legs, which is understandable, but so do my biceps and triceps). Could that be just from dehydration because I don't get drinks of water while doing my workout out because all floor doors are locked and my key only works on the 10th floor and there isn't a drinking fountain on the ground level. When I get to the top of the dorm I could take a break and go get a drink of water from my floor and head on down to start over again. Also, I'm not using my arms to do anything while walking up the stairs so it couldn't be aches from use. So, are the muscular aches normal? or if not, could it be from dehydration? Thanks for your time.
  10. I don't eat before my morning workout. The reason being is I'm currently trying to lose weight and get into better shape and a lot of people and websites have said to work out before you eat because then you're burning fat and not calories from your breakfeast. If you're not trying to lose weight, but you still can't do it on an empty stomach I'd suggest something small before your routine (maybe a protein bar or something like it) and then eat breakfeast afterwards. I'm far from an expert on nutrition so I could be wrong, but that's what I would say.
  11. oh sorry Orion. I didn't realize that the cell phone was limited to the U.S. Well, then nevermind what I said
  12. The reason that James Bond is the same age (around it) in every movie is because he is able to escape from time. Although time has tried to corner Bond, he's been able to escape and keep on the run. On a different note, after college I plan to make my own "James Bond" movie. This is the story line: James Bond is cornered by the bad guy. Bond tries to escape using high tech gadgets but is shot 5 times and dies. (That is the first 5 to 10 minutes). The rest of the movie (which will run about 1 1/2 hours) is just the bad guys dancing on screen The movie will be highly acclaimed and will win all types of awards thanks to my brilliant story board and story line!
  13. If you have a cell phone that allows text messaging you don't need an email invite. Just go to https://www.gmail.com and type your phone number and they will send you an activation code to your cell phone.
  14. Another question: is there a rule in BJJ/submission competitions that prevents a person from being too slippery? What I mean is I sweat a lot! (although I'm out of shape and trying to change that, I still sweat from certain things) and I'm just curious to see if that would affect my training or not? I hope the question is clear because it's in my mind and it makes sense but it's hard for me to put it into words.
  15. Since this is already a Jiu-Jitsu/jujitsu question thread I'll add on to this instead of making a new thread. Are there kata's in BJJ? Are there some in JJJ? I'd like to learn BJJ but I don't want to learn any katas.
  16. I guess I overly assumed the law would do more against the defender based on the stories I've heard about lawsuits against the defender and some of the things that I learned in the few weeks that I did Hapkido. Everything you all are saying makes complete sense. Thanks for replying and working with me and not resorting to insults or anything (which I've seen on other issues on different message boards).
  17. The main reason that I can see that you're allowed to defend yourself in the streets and not in school is the fact that in the streets there is a chance of death if you don't fight back. In school there isn't that chance (or at least shouldn't be) and most fights don't last as long as a street fight because in school there should be authority figures all around that will break up a fight because (at least where I went to high school) people gather around the fight and chant "Fight", so teachers (or other school employees) can find and break up the fight. If you're in the streets and you get into a fight in an alley, there isn't always somebody that's going to see you so you have to fight for your life.
  18. I think it also depends on which art you want to study and your location. For example, if you're looking to do Karate and you're in a larger city or suburb, chances are the prices will be lower because of competition whereas if you were looking for a place to learn something more obscure like Systema or Sambo, it may be more expensive since there aren't many substitutes.
  19. I assume that you're referring to the comment of dual hangovers. I never said you get drunk off caffeine, but there is a crash after the caffeine leaves your system (similar to a "sugar rush"). Caffeine dehydrates you, same with alcohol, and with alcohol that is what causes the hangover, and that can what could cause the "caffeine hangover".
  20. I get up "early" to exercise. What I mean by that is on Monday/Wednesday/Fridays I get up around 10 AM to go to the school's gym. Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays/Sundays I just go in the afternoon. (tuesdays/thursday is after class) What I've started to do because I don't feel like running at the gym or outside, I just climb the stairs in my dorm. I'm on the 10th floor and I walk down to the ground floor and then walk up to the top floor (the 12th). I know I'll have to change that cardio work out after I get in better shape (right now I'm in horrible shape) but it's good for now.
  21. Have you ever tried with creatine ´´ candies ´´ ? I bought once a package of orange flavored , and they were eat-able. I haven't seen those. I would get those except I bought a big thing of powder creatine awhile ago and I would feel bad if I didn't use it all up before getting the "candies". Do they taste any good? I probably won't get them because, like I said, with the chocolate soy milk I'm able to take the creatine without even noticing any difference in flavor or consistency.
  22. dunno about the chest problems, but the loading phase is unnecessary. All that is doing is making your supply run out faster and you dig into your pockets sooner. Forget the loading phase and just start the normal reccommended usage. Really?!? I've heard from people that I should extend the loading stage further than what is expected. I hate taking the creatine (well used to) because what I would dilute it with wouldn't take all the powder so it didn't taste good at all. Now that I've changed to using it with chocolate soy milk, I can't taste it at all and it doesn't make me sick to my stomach either.
  23. You make a good point Elbows about the grappling stopping somebody from hurting you whereas striking is intentional damage. I never thought about it that way.
  24. World of Warcraft is a fun game. I played for about 5 months until I had to move for school and I have no income so I couldn't afford the $15 a month. I plan to get the expansion once I get a steady job and I'm out of college.
  25. I never drink (ever). I just don't see how people can like the taste (here's a hint, if somebody offers you a shot, or glass, of Dry Gin politely pass, then afterwards go to Kmart or Target, not Wal-Mart though!, and buy some bug spray and spray into your mouth* the Dry Gin and bug spary taste similar and Dry Gin is like 30 times the price of bug spray) My friend is really big on the Budweiser energy drink. It's part beer part energy drink which is the worst idea ever. Why would you combine a depressant (alcohol) with a stimulant (caffeine or whatever else they use). Plus with the caffeine if you get drunk off it you'll have two hangovers instead of 1. Plus, if you thought beer was expensive this is like 150% more and you get about 50% less than a normal beer. * NOTE: Do not attempt. That was a joke!
