  1. Sure I can, and I do it on a 12 week cycle. We spar like anyone else, and my best students do well, but there is so much more to Martial Arts.
  2. Well that's old school!
  3. So, did I kill this thread? I do love the show.
  4. Well in TKD, I only know of one 10th Dan Eternal GM H. U. Lee of the ATA, but I'm sure there were others. His 10th Dan was recognized by other GM's but he only recieved it after his death.
  5. Yes, Yes, and White Warlock..........what can I say but.........what is it you do again?
  6. You need the A-Team. If I were teaching kids to steal, they would need an ambulance for me and a swat team for my instructor. This must be fun to watch......I guess.
  7. I have heard of this system. It would not work for TKD, I will never endorse the sport style as a reference to rank. And that's what it would take.
  8. Grand Master Jack (Crazy Jack) Pierce, Eternal Grand Master H. U. Lee, my parents Anita Huntley (4th Dan) M. Neal Huntley (2nd Dan) and finaly my 4 y/o son T.J. (white belt w/2 stripes) My son's the reason I live.
  9. Yup, I was half way thru your post when I came up with the same solution TKDbill came up with. Time to end your relationship with this club. I'm confused is it a club (part time) or a school (full time, multiple classes)? If you don't agree with the ligit school (club) chief instructor, start your own club, or simply find another. I know it sucks, but it happens.
  10. Yea, now that I think of it hook kicks do have more torque, but the side, if used correctly is more accurate thus more powefull. I love both.
  11. Hey, I got family in Eugene....where do you work out?
  12. I'd rather you sign a McHappy-mean certificate, any Joe can order a black belt. Unfortunately.
  13. Lifesaving? Please expand. And yes lifesaving is a huge part of war. My wife is a corpman in the U.S. Coast Guard.
  14. I don't blame you, and you didn't offend me in any way. I also have never heard of someone getting a 4th Dan in less than 10 years. Even in my ATA days. You do move faster in TKD than most other MA's. That's one of the reason why traditional TKD (ITF) has master level at 7th Dan while TSD practitioners get their button at 4th dan. You sound like you are really into your MA, dude - keep it up. But please understand that some MA's just move faster in the ranks, you don't have to like it, and I respect your view. But remember not all TKD schools are McDojo's. I still hate that term.......
  15. Yea.......I get it.......sarcasm.
  16. K, so that would be a McDojo.......... I was in a school with an 8 week testing cycle (20 years ago) so it took me about 2 years. My student test quarterly, 12 week cycle. So, the average student would now take about 3 years. Give or take.
  17. I've been training with the same instructor for 20 years now. He's had a bunch of instructors in that time and I'm always running into one or another and I get invited to train or teach or just hang all the time. It's a family thing, blood or not. Once you sweat with someone, it's very cool. Go! And enjoy yourself!
  18. Thought so. Cool classic quote! Party on, Garth!
  19. Hey, don't sweat it man. I don't think he was being sarcastic. And if he was, take it boy! And SMILE!
  20. It's a cool story. I'm a member of a large TKD family ranging from my son 4 y/o (white belt 2 stripes) all the way to my uncle 7th Dan USTF/ITF. There are a total of 10 of us and 8 have Black Belts. We started dating when I took over the club she was taking classes from, wrong I know - but it worked out. I told her that I would not marry her until she earned her Black Belt, it was my way of putting it off. I also told her it was a prerequisiet to be a member of the Huntley family, my dad was laughing at me on a daily bassis. She finaly did earn her 1st Dan, and on her belt.......my last name. Not a bad proposal. By the way......she said yes.
