  1. I really have been digging this cat. http://gdjiujitsu.com/gdjj/index.html
  2. Joe was awesome Carlos Machado goes to RI all the time because Tim Burrill is one of his belts. That was sweet. I have a lot of JM dvds they are sweet. My girlfriend is in RI so I go there a lot.
  3. I had a chance to train with both Joe Moreira in RI and Roy Harris in Rochester.
  4. I use it a lot, we had him teaching us for a week, a guy in our school is friends with Marcelo, so he was at our school teaching one week last month. He is amazing.
  5. What I do use a lot, but I am not sure if it is one of Bravo's rubber guard moves. I will have a closed guard then take either my right or left leg and put it high up on their shoulder even neck then fake an omopalata but instead but my foot/shin under their neck then grab the back of their head and finish the choke.
  6. Funny thing is I had his site on my favorites but just didn't remember the names you were refering to.
  7. No can't say I have, I only know a few moves, I'm not sure it's my game. I am leaning towards a butterfly guard game.
  8. I am fortunate to be flexible enough to use it, I think it is very effective.
  9. well first off don't stay flat always move you hips make space. And the rest really comes down to not enough mat time. In time you will be able to control the tempo and play your game. When they are in your guard go for a sweep, if they have side control try to get your gaurd back, is this Gi or no Gi?
  10. I am but off hand I forget my sn, I think it is Supergalactic but I have yet to post. I have been doing CF for 6 months now and I see a huge difference in competition with my stamina.
  11. oh yeah love it, especially the "fight gone bad" work out, that one was insane. It may look easy on paper but these workouts will put you to the test.
  12. If you want a challenging workout check this site out http://www.crossfit.com/
  13. I have broken a sweat before.
  14. How often do you train at full speed? I think the more you train live the better you will get @ reacting
  15. This is something to consider, the military uses BJJ. And for them it is life or death.
  16. I don't think one is better, I feel they are just variations of a theme. BJJ does want to get in and out fast. I have many examples of this. But to each their own.
  17. I wish I had a Muay Thai school where I live
  18. The reason I ask is I was suppose to fill in for my friend for a MMA fight in Mass but it was protested and then moved to anothere city 3 days before so my friend and I didn't make it. And if there were MMA fights in Canada we would venture up.
  19. Just curious, what was the name of the event?
  20. IMHO I would pick a BJJ school that teaches Vale Tudo. BJJ does teach self defense and isn't always about taking it to the ground. BJJ and Vale Tudo are one of the few arts that you are going live most of the time. Our Vale Tudo class trains us for MMA fights and realistic self defense. How many times have you seen two on one, we train for that and we go 90% no head gear just grappling gloves and mouth guard(we aren't beating the crap out of each other). I feel that you need to know what it feels like to get hit hard so when it does happen you don't panic. If you train like that, when the real thing (God forbid) happens you won't be out of you element. We have a Golden Gloves boxing teacher also. The Vale Tudo and Boxing helps with the stand up and the BJJ/submission fighting is our grouncd game. I feel our students are prepared for almost anything. I think this style of school would be great for what your looking for. I think that if you aren't used to getting hit when you do get hit you may freak out and panic and forget what you learned for that situation, so I am a huge fan of schools that aren't into just 50 punches now 50 kicks, it is different when there is someone in front of you with bad intentions. Schools that put you in real situations.
  21. Yve Edwards is great with high kicks, I think they work in the cage, but you really have to time it well. But the low kicks to the thighs are great for a set up. Maurice Smith gave Coleman welts on his thighs that really had a big impact on Coleman's ability to move in.
