Questions regarding opening a school
jnpnshr411 replied to scottnshelly's topic in Instructors and School Owners
In my school we learn techniques from many different systems ( shotokan, jujitsu, filipino, alpha blocks) but at the end most of the things come from one system and the others just complement that, that is the base of your school. So that is what your certificate should say, just let your students know this is not TKD its ???. hope that makes sense -
Hsa anyone learned the kata Gekisai. And what level do you learn it?
-
good luck and welcome

Well I started talking to my instructor and he helped me also. After hitting myself many times, I started altering alot and cutting many movements from a previous form. I wanted it to be more amped than the one taught to us. I added alot of spinning and palm spinning. The problem that I still have is that making it spin from side to side is alot harder with low stances. I find myself standing alot. It still a work in progress but I think it looks pretty good. Thanks alot for your help milkman I kept things you said it mind so that my form wouldnt have unrealistic movements (besides all the spinning).

let them strike as soon as you block strike with your legs. Use your legs to cover distance then strike with punches when you are closer

shotokankid that's true but most parents put them in baseball, football, soccer, etc. some of them are just lazy and use summer as an excuse to not go

the reason I ask is that the jujutsu instructor (its a shotokan school) spends most of the time go over over and over it alot. Edit: practicing it does help sparring/fighting alot. -
taisabaki, how important is it to the study of jujitsu?
-
BTW "I've had black eyes" you put that in your list of injuries. What exactly is that??
-
hey

Oh I do think about things like that alot of times when im bored just sitting and about to go sleep. I misunderstood meditate for the TV type "oummmm" type of thing

I have a question.....How exactly do you meditate? what are you supposed to think about? What is the proper form of sitting and breathing? (actually it turned out to be a few questions)
-
