Villari's Self Defense Centers
tigerclaw2 replied to Athlon's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I hear he allso owns bushido martial arts supply company which he makes all ussd schools buy from their. Plus you have to buy the videos for each rank from their. -
I hear his style is different than mattaras is this true?
-
ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE STYLE PROFESSOR KIMO TEACHS? AND SOME BACKGROUND INFO WOULD BE NICE TO.
-
Theres no relationship any more with cerio.GRAND MASTER NICK CERIO cut all ties with ussd and mattara in 1993, it might be because mattara ranked himself after cerios clinic with ussd in 1993?

VILLARIS vs USSD
tigerclaw2 replied to tigerclaw2's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Vliiari self promoted himself to 10th degree in 1975. mattara promoted himself to 9th degree in 93. THE stlye is kempo their is no shaolin in it. -
Ninjamac, I dont think matara was a partner just some district manager who got real greedy and wanted to keep all the money. It looks like mattara ranked himself to 9th degree? I have not found any info on where he got it.

Rateh, I've notice how people at nUSSD get pushed throw the ranks. If you dont know you stuff doesn't matter you get your belt anyway. A lot of red belts runing schools( ussd has growen to big and not enough qualified people to run schools. They tried to sell me the college for $15,000 one class a week with some 2nd degree and somtimes a 4th dgree. I told them I need to think about it. AKA need to find a real school not some hack job that only cares about money. I hate black belt factory. -

Ryuujinblade, How much are you paying at villaris? USSD is 175 a month for a year contract. Does your instructor know about the split from mattera? -

SHAOLIM MONK, whats the deal with USSD taking 33% of the profit from there schools? Why does USSD needs to take there instructors $$$$$$$$$$$? Why cant they be like there fathers company VILLARIS and let them keep all there profit? -

A $1000 FOR YEAR IS ABOUT $83 A MONTH, WHATS SO BAD ABOUT THAT? -
Tone go to https://www.villarisonline.com. GRANDMASTER VILLARI rules the east coast and is cheaper than most schools. He started out in boston 35 years ago and has alot of high ranking instructors working for him. You should be able to find a school close to you. Unlike ussd who does'nt have many masters compared to villaris. From what I found Ussd masters dont really teach in there schools much, just my opinon. Alot of ussd schools have 1st and 2nd dans runing there schools and evan brown and green belts. Villaris list all the chief instructors ranks on his web site https://www.villarisonline.com. USSD does not.

There is also a SHAOLIN TEMPLE in new york and 2 in texas. That would be much cheaper than going to china -

shaolinmok, united studios was villlari and rudy horns original name they left nick cerios in 71 and stared ussd larry mangone a green belt with cerio left with villari and rudy horn. Villari was a 2nd dan and so was rudy hron. If you go to the ussd web site you can download the state of the arts news letterwhere mattera states he started training under a brown belt named larry mangone under cerio. I dont believe this is entirely true I have seen on other web sites (such as the one i posted above) that cerio cut alll contact off with villari and company since they open there own karate school, so that means larry recieved his brown belt from villari not cerio which means mattera started with villari not cerio. This is all stuff I've read at other web sites check it out for yourself just go to google and type fred villari. -
Shaolin Temple
tigerclaw2 replied to scottnshelly's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Shaolinmonk, all I know is what I heard from my friend who did the 2004 shaolin trip but he said that you test in the hotel parking lot not the shaolin temple and you dont even get your belt there you have to wait till you get home and buy it from your instructor even though he already paid a high test fee for going there. He was under the impretion that he would test at the temple. He was very disapointed. That combined with getting one form and some mysterious chi magic that a master gets not a student sounds like a rip off to me. Just my opinion. -
Anybody have combo 23 with a downward left knife hand on your right palm?

On villaris web site https://www.villarisonline.com. its says you can learn up to 3 forms a day not that you have to. -

Shaolinmonk, thoses so called agreements are $175 a year or $225 month to month. If you go with $175 and quit 6 months down the road you have to pay $50 extra for evry month you took and a 30 day notice. that was just how my instructor explained it to me I could be wrong and got screwed over by my instructor? Also I heard you can only buy 33% of a school not the whole thing is thi true? You also have to buy $750 worth of manuels a month (thats 15 manuels a month regard less if you sign up that many or not) Thats just what my instructor told me dont know if its true or not? Also ask your master what forms or techniques are shaolin. I think you will be suprised at his answers. Also my instructor had to get rides to work because he couldnt afford a car (HE HAD ABOUT 60 STUDENTS AND A NIDAN) -

Watch yourself monkeyking and do some background checks on any school you join. Make sure the instructors have been studying for at least 5 years not some newbie who has 2 years of experience and a black belt. I've had not so good experience with the USSD organization and the fees that ninjamac posted are true. If you decide to train with them ask for a free week of lessions and if the instructor knows the true history and lineage of ussd. Not the crap that mattera put in his manuals or on the web site. He put grandmaster nick cerio as his chief instructor and makes no mention of grandmaster fred villari who he got his first 7 dans from. In my opinion you should not train at such a big organization where it could have problems keeping checks and balances.
