  1. so your a "crafty' lefty boxing guys love to say that everyone always says to keep your lead foot to the out side of the opponents lead foot. and move away from his power hand this is sound advice however each one of you is going to do that. and it is an endless battle also sooner or later (unless you guys plan on suffling into the next state) your going to have to come back the other way. when you do make sure you come back out of range of the power hand. (if you dont you will get hit straight down broadway by his power hand. pivot out. i saw eric payne get knocked out in denver like that. (well he dint get knocked out from it but dazed enough to get chocked out. btw eric payne is a very good fighter and even he made that mistake. as far as advantages and disagvantages. the lefty has the advantage cause rightys dont see to many leftys and leftys see rightys all the time. also when i fight a south paw i tend to really nail the liver with my left hook(since its on the right side and easy to get to on south paws) very painful i do it on rightys to but it is harder to get to and i must expose my self to more danger to hit it.
  2. i am going to try this this saturday(day i dont have formal class) with my training partner. but what is ali/frazier shadow boxing i am also to assume that combinations are on the focus mitts should i use heavy bag?
  3. what is a street fighter? is it someone who gets in a street fight. so if i lose my cool and get in a fight have i become a street fighter. if you are refering to a guy with little formal training, a mean temper, and wild violent blows. a genrallized tough guy. well if you cant cofidently beat that guy after about 6 months of training you should consider a new art.
  4. mike tyson and especally vanderia silva (he is hunched up like a caveman for gods sake) dont seem to have any lose of power or balance from keeping there shoulders up. if you lose balance from keeping your shoulders up and your back bent you must be one dorky dude.
  5. thanks i will try it out tommorrow
  6. good way to practice spraws 1 while standing drop to the ground and kick your legs up catching yourself on your hand. anyone who has been on a wrestling team knows this one and i quite sick of it. 2find a swiss ball. the big blue ones that chicks love to workout on. kick it agaist a wall and when it comes back try to land your chest on it. 3 drill with a partner who is trying to take you down at about 50 % spped 4drill live
  7. yes given the same position a striker could do each of these moves, they are both very easyand i would never spend much training time on perfecting my headbutt. or my heal kick from the gaurd. however a "pure striker" (one who has not done some crosstraining , which by the way has by and large gone the way of the dinasaur in MMA) would be very unlikey to get the postions and less likley to hold them
  8. when i say that the kidney kicks and head butts favor a grappler. you must not understand what im saying.first of all grapplers can strike and when they do they do not cease to be a grappler. when i say grappler im refering to someone who has a bjj, wrestling or judo bakground. its not the strike but the method that its delivered that makes it a grapplers weapon. hear is the senerio. early ufc..... traditional standup guy gets taken down by world class wrestler. no, a swift kick to the head or elbows on the back didnt stop it. ussually only a sprawl will stop a good take down. now wrestler sucks up his arms and lays on top of him. stand up guy cant get out cause his "dojo" didnt think grappling was important. now wrestler starts to head butt standup guy until he is unconcious kicks to kidney bjj guy fights wrestler or standup guy. (ill say wrestler). wresler guy gets takedown. bjj guy pulls gaurd and while they pummel for arm position bjj guy uses the leg that he has wrapped around the guys torso to dig his heals into the guys kidney. its not the strikes that make them a grapplers weapon but the grappling expertise that allows them the position to use them. its interesting that i dont understand striking considering i have boxed and fought muay tai professionally. i am much less versed in grappling and while i want to evolve into a ballanced fighter, i would at this point consider myself a striker. this does not proclude me from recognizing some truths about grappling.
  9. i dont know if you realize it or not but that is a pack of 10 wraps
  10. i dont know the arm triangle(or maybe i do and it has another name
  11. i am refering to the leg triangle. iot is easy to do when someone is in your gaurd and punching down on you. when the bring their arm back to strike. thats when you kinda push it back with your hand and send your leg over his shoulder
  12. one of the reason face sheild guys get hit more is they dont protect it as much. the other is the face shield sticks out a few more inches so shots that would miss buy an inch hit you. that being said there is a place for head gear. avantages protect you knogin and you can go hard more often some rules require it so train and get used to it. disadvantages forget to block head as much. cuts down on pheriferal vision unrealistic training to some degree.i fight one guy at my gym who always wheres head gear. he is not to good so i go light with him. he walks through jabs that most of the time he would cause someone to at least pause i never use a face sheild
  13. i hope they are egyiption cotton, gold plated or vera wang wraps. however im always willing to hep a brother out. ill cut you a great deal send me 35$ and i will send you wrist wraps. you got any friends
  14. forgot the other part. also heal kicks to the kidney favored grapplers to much. bjj guys would get guard.(on the bottom with legs wrapped around a guys torso.)hold both arms and kick thereheal down on to the kidney
  15. head butts made it too much of a grapplers game. wrestlers would take someone down, lay on top, grap arms with his arms and headbutt away
  16. Side Effects Return to top There is no known dietary deficiency of vitamin E. There are no known toxic effects to megadoses of vitamin E. Occasional side effects such as headache have been reported. reported from medline
  17. all the time. our bags ate the hard bannana bags. if you gont any type of power you will kill your hands. the heavy bag is to improve power so ya got to hit it hard.
  18. yeah i always forget to do that when i have mount. kinda strange cause im in it alot when im mounted
  19. ussauly these go as to which style is better. i want to ask of you styles that you take. what are the weak points and how would you defeat them. i will start the styes i have studied tkd world style. rules do not allow puches to the head.... get real used to having hands low. to win throw a barage of head shots. boxing. side stance makes you especally vulnerable to leg kicks. also once taken down many boxers are at a lose as what to do(although this applies to many fighters not schooled in bjj, or catch wrestling) wrestling. sprawl and brawl. also many wrestlers keep hands low and have a low crouch. suseptable to high kicks.(one of the only times im going to recomend this. besides if you mess it up you will end up on the ground which is probable where a good wrestler would have put you anyway) muay tai every effective style. so im streching to find a weakness. put them on the ground (but most of the muay tai guys i know follow the ufc and other real venues so the are versed in ground training and maybe becouse the kick repertwar is limited you might get lucky with a crazy spin kick that thay havent seen before.(beware this ussually only works once) stay at a distance...since most muay tai kicks hit with the shin they have a shorter range than a karate or tkd kick
  20. how to kick like bruce lee......get in a movie. put me in a movie and make me the star and i will beat every last one of you.(maube at the same time) in real life not so much
  21. i was ussing UFC as a expression for ALL MMA in some ways i prefer pride 1. better rules 2. better fighters 3. sick of looking at dana white, joe rogan, and big john in some ways i prefer UFC 1. produced better from a spectators angle 2. i like the cage
  22. pacsific shore is correct
  23. lewis was great. he was just so uncaptivating out of the ring that he never got a cult following. ali was the greatest cause he told you so again and again and sooner or later you believed him. my choices in no particular order. lewis hopkins duran suger ray robinson archie moore when its all said and done my favorite might be the golden boy oscar delahoia. great career but mostly cause i have a feeling he is going to alter boxing and return it to the public. (less pay per view, less coruption)
