My old school never had prayers, our meditation times were just relaxation exercises. However, I would welcome a student of any religion to pray during the meditation. Several of the students at my old school are very religious, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them said a little prayer before tests.

Heavy heavy heavy!! Nothing else FEELS right, ya know? When I wear my heavyweight, I feel at home no matter where I am It makes a lovely snapping sound when you perform a technique just right, absolutely beautiful for form competition! I'll move this to General MA.

Haven't seen it but my parents have, they really liked it.

Welcome to the forums...yo.

Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce (JELLIED, none of that whole berry stuff...blech), stuffing, baked corn, green beans & bacon, candied yams, pumpkin and apple pies.

Very interesting. I've never had much exposure to Shotokan and am not familiar with the tiger, but the stories were interesting nonetheless

Good discussion, but let's try to take it away from "who would win". I like that you're focusing on strengths and weaknesses of each, though.

The sad part is, I've met a few people in my hometown who would actually consider that to be a good idea!!

The technique site doesn't work for me

Is that the weight loss device that you place the little "stimulators" on your "fatty areas", and it zaps the fat away or something?

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in the United States, which is when we recognize the day that magical pumpkin pies fell out of the sky... kidding, of course For our non-American members, well...happy Thursday! Well, here's to hoping you all have lots of things to be thankful for, American or not! For those of you who are traveling to visit relatives, be safe, have fun, and try not to argue with your in-laws.

Welcome to the forums! Music? ...hmm, I like a lot of different kinds. Everything from classical to country, jazz to hard rock, r&b to folk music...basically everything except hardcore rap, I can't stand the language in that stuff. Anyway, welcome again!

Thanks for the link! I went to the "Operation Forgotten Soldier" forum, and found a thread for SPC McBean!! I'm excited because my last name is McBeth, and through Scottish genealogy, our clans are linked! I'll be sending him a letter for sure Thanks so much!

I just got back from seeing "Elf" (starring Will Ferrell) at the movies...it was great!!! I definitely recommend this to all of you, even if you don't celebrate Christmas, it's a hilarious movie to watch. It doesn't touch on the religious aspects of Christmas at all, just the Santa & Elves part. The movie is completely family friendly...my whole family went and we were nearly in tears from laughing so much. Elf is the funniest Christmas movie I've ever seen, hands down OK, I'm filled with Christmas cheer and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet Has anyone else seen this? Planning to? Discuss

jac: make sure you stop by the Introduction forum and make an intro thread so we can all get to know you! I'll move this to the Karate forum, since I'm pretty sure that's where it belongs. If I'm wrong though, just let me know and I'll move it again.

We only read the first two chapters of Walden, but that was still 60+ pages of densely packed stuff in one weekend We were studying Emerson at the same time...American Scholar, Divinity School Address, little bit of Nature, and Experience. We're through with them now (thank God) and moving on to Huckleberry Finn. There were points when I really hated Emerson and Thoreau, but now that we're through with them I can stand back and appreciate their writing a little more. I got a lot out of it. Thanks for the suggestion, my school's library probably has them.
-
Well, we read Thoreau in school. Maybe I'll check out some Vonnegut when I have the time. What do you recommend as a first read?
-
Is that a new show or the same one that they play all the time?
-
I've heard that one before, but it's still worth a chuckle or two.

http://images.quizilla.com/T/truly-dippy/1061402094_CWINDOWSDesktopsea2.jpg Fairly accurate, except for the "violent without warning" part, and the last part...I'm pretty patient with people. By the way, I fixed anyone's post that had a bunch of code in it, they should look right now. Hope you don't mind
